Cost Management Lead (HVDC) Location: Glasgow/Edinburgh (Hybrid) Salary: from £66,000, up to 20% bonus, car allowance, family medical insurance & other excellent benefits Permanent Help us create a better future, quicker SP Energy Networks is delivering more than £10 billion of investment into the GB electricity grid over the next five years, helping accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more secure energy future. A key part of this investment is the delivery of the Eastern Green Link 4 (EGL4) HVDC project, a flagship joint venture between SP Energy Networks and National Grid. As HVDC Cost Management Lead, you'll play a critical role in the financial management and successful delivery of one of the UK's largest and most strategically important energy infrastructure projects. Working at the heart of a complex joint venture environment, you'll establish and drive robust cost management processes, reporting frameworks and financial controls that support project delivery while contributing directly to the UK's journey to Net Zero. What you'll be doing You'll lead the development and continuous improvement of cost management standards, processes and reporting across the joint venture, ensuring accurate, timely and insightful financial information is available to support decision making. You'll oversee month-end reporting, cost forecasting, budget performance reviews and cash flow management, while providing expert financial guidance to project leadership and key stakeholders. Working closely with project management, commercial, regulation, treasury and finance teams across both ScottishPower and National Grid, you'll maintain oversight of project performance against budgets and regulatory requirements. You'll manage key processes including value of work done reporting, intercompany invoicing, cash calls, cost breakdown structures and forecasting activities, while proactively identifying risks, resolving cost-related issues and supporting both statutory and management accounting requirements. What you'll bring You'll be a qualified accountant, or possess equivalent significant experience, ideally gained within a major project, infrastructure or project delivery environment. You'll combine strong financial and commercial expertise with the ability to interpret complex information, challenge assumptions constructively and influence stakeholders at all levels. We're also looking for: Significant experience in cost management, financial reporting and forecasting within large-scale projects. Strong accounting, analytical and commercial skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Experience working with SAP and financial management systems, including the production and analysis of complex cost reports. The confidence to engage with senior stakeholders across multiple organisations and provide clear financial insight. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs to demanding timescales. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively across project, commercial, operational and finance teams. An adaptable and proactive approach, with the ability to identify risks, solve problems and support continuous improvement.
