🚀 Country Manager DACH (Iconic Consumer Electronics Brand)
Location: Remote in Germany (Munich highly preferred, Berlin acceptable)
Travel: ~50% travel across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
Language: Fluent German (C1+) and English required (French is a plus)
🌟 The Company
Our client is an iconic, globally recognized heritage brand in the analog photography and premium consumer electronics space. Mid sized, global privately held company with 600 employees international.
They design and manufacture specialized physical products—ranging from premium analog cameras and pocket-sized mobile printers to high-profile pop-culture collaborations. While they dominate in markets like France and the US, their footprint in the DACH region is ready to grow. They operate with the agility of a fast-paced scale-up but carry the brand recognition of a legacy titan.
💡 The Role
This is a high-impact, "builder" and "hunter" role. Operating almost like a regional founder, you will be the sole commercial driver for the DACH market, tasked with aggressively doubling market share and building the region from the ground up.
Reporting directly to the European Sales Director, you will spend your time defining GTM strategy, managing and winning key accounts, and executing trade marketing/market intelligence. You will own the full sales cycle: pitching major consumer electronics retailers, negotiating terms, getting physical products on shelves, and ensuring consumers continuously engage with the brand's recurring product lines.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
• Commercial Strategy & Execution: Build the annual DACH business plan, define sales forecasts, and hunt for new business opportunities to scale regional revenue rapidly.
• Retail & Distributor Domination: Pitch, secure, and manage top-tier consumer electronics retailers, specialty tech stores, and lifestyle boutiques across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
• Drive Recurring Revenue: Focus not just on hardware placements, but on optimizing shelf space and promotional strategies for high-margin consumables (physical media/film) to ensure long-term customer lifetime value.
• Full-Cycle Account Ownership: Lead commercial negotiations, manage margins, handle inventory planning, and navigate supply chain operations to ensure products get from the warehouse to premium end-cap displays.
• Trade Marketing: Partner with the global marketing team to execute localized retail activations, point-of-sale merchandising, and brand engagement campaigns.
• Future Leadership: Operate as an autonomous individual contributor initially, with the long-term goal of building out and managing a localized DACH sales and account management team based on your revenue success.
💻 Industry & Tools
• Domain: Consumer Electronics, Optics, Physical Tech Products, Premium Lifestyle Goods.
• Channels: Big-box tech retail, independent photography/electronic stores, distributors.
🛠️ What We're Looking For
• 3+ Years Experience: Proven track record as a Country Manager, Senior Sales Manager, or Key Account Manager specifically within the DACH region.
• Consumer Electronics Background: You MUST have experience selling physical tech products, cameras, audio equipment, or premium consumer goods into retail environments (not B2B SaaS).
• Hunter & Builder DNA: You are intrinsically motivated, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You thrive in a "greenfield" market and love opening new doors.
• Challenger Mentality: You are excited by the prospect of going head-to-head against massive, entrenched industry competitors, finding creative ways to steal premium retail shelf space and win market share.
• Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of retail economics, margin structures, promotion planning, and category management.
• High Autonomy: Comfortable operating remotely from HQ, driving your own schedule, and traveling heavily (~50%) to close deals and audit retail locations.
🎁 Benefits & Package
• Highly competitive base salary with a massive upside OTE
• 25 days of annual leave.
• Full travel allowance / expenses covered for regional travel.
• Relocation support (if applicable) and extensive onboarding at the European HQ.
• Mental health support services, training allowances, and premium company welcome gifts.
🧩 Interview Process
1. Recruiter Screen (30 mins): Initial culture, practicality, and motivation check.
2. Technical & Commercial Deep Dive (60 mins): Call with the Sales Director focusing on sales track record, DACH market approach, and strategic planning.
3. Peer Review (60 mins): Interview with two Senior Account Managers from the European team to assess cultural fit and cross-functional collaboration.
4. Executive Onsite (90 mins total): Three back-to-back 30-minute sessions with the CSO, CEO, and CFO (ideally conducted in-person at the European HQ in Amsterdam) focusing on final cultural alignment and intrinsic motivation.
