Derive optimal material configurations directly from performance requirements , reducing iterative material optimisation cycles. Define, develop and propose research projects in the field of composite materials and coating technologies , aligned with the Central Research & Technology strategic roadmap. Execute scientific‑driven R&D activities autonomously within an international and transnational organisation. Collaborate closely with a broad ecosystem of academic partners, universities, research institutes, industrial partners and start‑ups . Exchange with the wider materials and surface technology community to maintain and lead the state‑of‑the‑art in inverse design approaches. What we’re looking for: Degree in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science or a related field. Experience or strong interest in data‑driven modelling, machine learning or inverse design methods . Knowledge of composite materials and/or coating technologies will be highly valued. Experience with Python, data analysis and scientific computing . C1 English level – mandatory . German skills will be a strong plus.
