THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE
Santander UK Wholesale Trade Support is looking for a Data & Quantitative Analyst based out of London, Triton Square.
We’re looking for an analytical, curious and technically minded Quantitative Analyst to sit within Treasury Markets Support and work across the function, the Quantitative Analytics team and wider stakeholders.
This is not a traditional trade support role. The role is designed to bring quantitative, data and programming capability into the business, using tools such as Python, SAS and SQL to solve problems, improve processes and support the delivery of analytical and quantitative solutions.
The successful candidate will work on a varied portfolio of activity. This may include supporting quantitative analysts with model development, testing, implementation and data analysis; designing and delivering automation; building repeatable tools and controls; investigating complex data or process issues; and contributing to business, regulatory and technology-led projects.
A key part of the role is being able to move between business problems and technical solutions. You will develop an understanding of front to back markets processes and operational requirements, work with subject matter experts to understand the problem, interrogate data, and turn ideas into practical, controlled and scalable solutions.
The role would suit someone with excellent analytical and numerical ability who already has, or is motivated to develop, programming capability. Practical experience in Python, SAS or SQL is valuable; the willingness and aptitude to learn and apply new tools is equally important.
We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
- Work with Treasury Markets Support, Quantitative Analytics and other stakeholders to understand business problems and translate them into clear analytical or technical requirements.
- Use Python, SAS, SQL and other appropriate tools to interrogate data, identify patterns, exceptions and root causes, and develop robust, repeatable solutions.
- Support quantitative model and analytics activity under the direction of Quantitative Analysts, including data preparation, testing, implementation support, documentation and ongoing enhancements.
- Design and implement automation for manual or repetitive processes, with appropriate controls, validation, exception handling and auditability.
- Build tools, reports and controls that improve the accuracy, resilience, efficiency and scalability of operational processes.
- Contribute to projects and change initiatives, providing analytical capability, technical input, testing and implementation support from initial problem definition through to delivery.
- Investigate complex data, process and system issues, working across teams to determine root cause, ownership and practical resolution.
- Proactively identify opportunities to simplify, automate or strengthen existing ways of working and take ownership for progressing improvements.
