About the Job
The Database Administrator (DBA / DBRE) will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, monitoring, performance, and reliability of Bambu Lab’s cloud and local database environments. This role will work closely with development, SRE, and security teams to build scalable database infrastructure, improve system resilience, automate database operations, and maintain strong data security and compliance standards.

Description
The Database Administrator (DBA / DBRE) will be responsible for:
▪ Manage the day-to-day operations, monitoring, and reliability of cloud databases, including AWS RDS / Aurora and GCP Cloud SQL, as well as local database environments such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and SQL Server.
▪ Define and maintain database SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and reliability standards while managing database infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including Terraform.
▪ Develop and execute database backup, disaster recovery, and regular recovery-testing strategies to meet defined RPO and RTO requirements and ensure business continuity.
▪ Optimize database performance through SQL reviews, slow-query analysis, index planning, database parameter tuning, and capacity management.
▪ Maintain highly available database architectures through replication, clustering, failover management, elastic scaling, and other reliability engineering practices.
▪ Implement and enforce database security controls, including RBAC, auditing, encryption, data masking, and other data-layer security and privacy requirements.
▪ Automate database provisioning, administration, monitoring, and operational workflows using Terraform, Python, Shell, and related engineering tools.
▪ Partner with development, SRE, security, and other local engineering teams to troubleshoot database incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and continuously improve database reliability and automation.
Profile
A successful Database Administrator (DBA / DBRE) should have:
▪ 3+ years of professional experience in Database Administration, Database Reliability Engineering, or a closely related database infrastructure role.
▪ Strong hands-on expertise with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including database administration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and high-availability configurations.
▪ Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms, particularly AWS RDS / Aurora or GCP Cloud SQL.
▪ Experience designing and maintaining high-availability and scalable database environments, including replication, failover, backup, disaster recovery, and elastic scaling.
▪ Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, and scripting languages such as Python or Shell for database automation.
▪ Hands-on experience with database and infrastructure monitoring and observability tools, including alerting, performance analysis, and incident troubleshooting.
▪ Strong root-cause analysis, incident management, and postmortem capabilities.
▪ Working proficiency in English and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering, SRE, and security teams.
▪ Legal authorization to work in the United States or eligibility for employer-sponsored work authorization. Bambu Lab is willing to support qualified candidates requiring H-1B sponsorship or H-1B transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
▪ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience will also be considered.
▪ Experience with additional database technologies such as Redis, SQL Server, or Oracle.
▪ Experience managing databases in environments requiring strong data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance controls.
▪ Experience implementing database security capabilities including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and data masking.
▪ Experience supporting high-traffic, distributed, or rapidly scaling technology platforms.
▪ Experience working closely with SRE, DevOps, security, and software engineering teams in a production environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $150,000–$200,000 USD annually.
Additional compensation may include:
▪ Annual 25% performance bonus
