FULLY QUALIFIED DIESEL MECHANIC in AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY

Location: Gore, Southland, New Zealand

Position: Field Service Technician

A growing agricultural machinery business in Gore, Southland is seeking an experienced Fully Qualified Diesel / Agricultural Mechanic to join its team.

This position will suit a technically capable mechanic with strong experience working on tractors and agricultural machinery, who is ready to take on a field-based role with increasing autonomy.

The successful candidate will initially be based in the workshop before progressing into a Field Service Technician position, servicing and repairing agricultural machinery on customers’ farms and completing workshop-based work as required.

Key requirements:

• Recognised Diesel / Agricultural Mechanic trade qualification

• Approximately 5–10 years’ experience following apprenticeship completion

• Strong practical experience with tractors and agricultural equipment

• Experience with farm machinery, forage harvesters and related equipment

• John Deere training or experience is highly desirable

• Excellent mechanical, diagnostic and problem-solving capability

• Ability to work independently and manage field service work effectively

• High standard of workmanship and customer service

• Full driver licence

• Strong English communication skills

Key responsibilities:

The role will involve completing repairs and maintenance on agricultural machinery both on-site and off-site, diagnosing faults, ensuring required parts and equipment are available, completing jobs efficiently, maintaining accurate records and documentation, and providing effective support to customers and colleagues.
