Director of Emergency Department – Registered Nurse Location: San Antonio, TX Schedule: Full Time | Day Shifts | No Weekends Salary: $140,000–$155,000 Sign-On Bonus: $20,000 Relocation Assistance: Available Benefits: Full Benefits Package Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Department – Registered Nurse to provide strategic and operational leadership for a high-performing Emergency Department in San Antonio, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nursing leader who is passionate about patient safety, quality care, staff development, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring strong Emergency Department leadership experience, a proven ability to manage complex operations, and the ability to build effective partnerships with physicians, nursing teams, and executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Provide executive oversight of Emergency Department operations. Ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care. Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and clinical standards. Optimize patient throughput, staffing, productivity, and operational efficiency. Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Champion patient experience and service excellence initiatives. Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop nursing leaders and staff. Partner with physicians and executive leadership on strategic planning and departmental growth. Manage departmental budgets, labor, productivity, supplies, and capital resources. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement. Must-Haves Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Active RN license in the applicable state or a multi-state compact license. Acute-care Emergency Department leadership experience. Emergency Department nursing experience. Experience with budgeting, staffing, physician relationships, and quality improvement. Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient acute hospital nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Three (3) or more years of progressive healthcare leadership experience. Demonstrated success leading complex Emergency Department operations. Experience with regulatory compliance, patient throughput, performance improvement, and staff development. Experience Flexibility We are open to candidates at different stages of leadership progression. We may consider current Directors, Associate Directors, Senior Managers, or experienced Emergency Department Managers with significant operational scope who demonstrate the leadership capabilities and experience needed to succeed in this role.
