Director of Engineering, Product

About the Role

Lead multiple product engineering teams at a growing education technology company helping schools create schedules for teachers and students. You will guide technical direction and product delivery, connecting engineering decisions to outcomes for schools and their communities.

What You'll Do

• Lead multiple product teams, supporting engineers and managers while driving delivery across their roadmaps.

• Start with a hands-on balance of coding, code reviews, and pairing, then transition over time toward a greater focus on leadership.

• Make and communicate architecture decisions that support a robust, scalable platform.

• Partner with product and other cross-functional teams to set goals and align engineering priorities with business outcomes.

• Deliver valuable product improvements, including AI-powered capabilities, in time for key school scheduling cycles.

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of engineering experience and 3 or more years leading engineering teams.

• Experience managing multiple teams, including managers, and scaling teams through significant technical and business changes.

• A track record of owning product or business outcomes such as delivery speed, quality, growth, or retention.

• Strong backend architecture and design skills, with the ability and interest to remain hands-on.

• Proficiency in TypeScript or Python, and experience with React, AWS, and MongoDB.

• Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Background or interest in education technology or related learning and teaching fields, and an ability to learn and apply AI.

• Availability for occasional company retreats and business travel.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $210,000 to $240,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available.

Remote within the United States, with Boston, Massachusetts as the primary location.
