This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting operational goals, regulatory compliance, staff development, financial performance, and continuous improvement. The Director collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, hospital administration, and multidisciplinary teams to support the organization’s strategic plan and develop programs and services that meet the needs of the community. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Department and support organizational change initiatives. Direct and coordinate daily department operations to achieve hospital and patient-care objectives. Monitor quality of care, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and process improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, DHEC, South Carolina Board of Nursing , and applicable professional standards. Promote evidence-based nursing practice and maintain high standards of clinical care. Coach, mentor, and develop Nurse Managers and nursing staff to support professional growth and leadership effectiveness. Foster employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and a culture of safety. Oversee departmental budgets, including staffing, expenses, revenue, and capital resources. Monitor resource utilization and ensure operations remain within established budget parameters. Partner with medical staff and hospital leadership on program development, service improvements, and strategic initiatives. Lead efforts to improve patient experience, operational efficiency, and quality outcomes. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Master’s degree in Nursing or Business Administration required within five years of employment. Experience 3–5 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting. At least 2 years of experience in the relevant specialty area, preferably Emergency Department nursing. Previous nursing management or healthcare leadership experience required. Licensure & Certifications Current RN license with Multi-State/Compact privileges in the state of residence, as applicable. Candidates holding an RN license from another Compact state must obtain a Multi-State RN License in their state of residence within 30 days, as required. American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required. CPI certification required. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced nursing leader with strong clinical, operational, financial, and people-management skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead teams, drive quality improvement, manage resources, navigate change, and collaborate effectively with physicians and hospital leadership. Compensation: $120,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
