Director of Operations – Build-to-Rent
📍 London W1 (hybrid) with regular travel to sites across London, Surrey, Hampshire and Bristol
💷Flexibility for an exceptional candidate
Do you run multiple sites to a standard your guests or members notice the moment they walk in? Are you ready to bring that to residential living?
Our client is a PE-backed operator of premium build-to-rent apartment communities. Its leadership team is behind some of the most successful rental housing turnarounds in the US and UK. It runs high-quality schemes across London, Surrey, Hampshire and Bristol, with residents' lounges, gyms, co-working spaces, spas and more. And it's growing fast.
They're now looking for a Director of Operations to lead the operating platform and make the resident experience feel more like great hospitality than traditional property management.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll own day-to-day operations across the portfolio:
• Lead and develop regional and on-site teams, setting clear standards and holding them to it
• Drive an exceptional, hospitality-led resident experience, from move-in to renewal
• Own health & safety, building compliance, cleanliness and presentation across every site
• Manage maintenance, facilities and key suppliers and contractors
• Deliver operational budgets, control costs and improve performance
• Lead the opening and mobilisation of new buildings as the portfolio grows
• Build scalable processes, KPIs and reporting, and present performance to investors and partners
• Champion technology and data to make operations smarter
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
This role is open to senior operators from hotels, premium gym and health club groups, members' clubs, aparthotels and residential property management. What matters is that you have:
• A strong track record leading multiple sites and sizeable teams
• A genuine customer service mindset, with high expectations of quality and presentation
• Solid health & safety and operational compliance experience
• Commercial acumen, including budget ownership and P&L understanding
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and investors
• Energy and resilience suited to a fast-growing, entrepreneurial business
THE PACKAGE
• £100,000 – £120,000 base, with flexibility for an outstanding candidate
• Discretionary bonus
• 25 days' holiday
• Private health insurance
• Pension, company sick pay and cycle to work scheme
• Site travel and mileage expensed
• Visa sponsorship available
