Director of Trauma Research Programs – Registered Nurse (RN) Location: Fort Walton Beach, Florida Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Benefits: Full Benefits Package Relocation Assistance: Available Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Trauma Research Programs – Registered Nurse (RN) to provide strategic leadership for trauma research, quality improvement, education, and program development. The Director of Trauma Research Programs advances excellence in trauma care by leading the development, coordination, and oversight of clinical research and educational initiatives. This position promotes innovation, evidence-based practice, and continuous quality improvement throughout the trauma program while serving as the organization's subject matter expert in trauma-related clinical research. The ideal candidate will bring significant recent experience in acute care trauma leadership , along with a strong understanding of trauma systems, clinical outcomes, trauma registries, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement processes to monitor and improve the financial performance and resource utilization of the Trauma Program. Lead strategic planning initiatives designed to optimize the delivery of trauma care across the full continuum of care. Coordinate collaboration among local, regional, and affiliated trauma systems to improve patient outcomes and overall system performance. Monitor clinical processes, patient outcomes, quality indicators, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and oversee quality indicators, audits, and multidisciplinary case reviews to identify trends, improve processes, and support patient safety initiatives. Oversee the design, maintenance, accuracy, and integrity of the trauma registry to support performance improvement, regulatory reporting, and clinical research. Ensure appropriate protection of patient confidentiality and compliance with applicable privacy and regulatory requirements. Lead activities associated with trauma program verification and re-verification. Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable state and national trauma standards and requirements. Support the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical practices and trauma-related educational initiatives. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, researchers, administrators, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders to advance trauma care and research. Identify opportunities for innovation, research, quality improvement, and improved clinical outcomes within the trauma program. Required Qualifications 5+ years of recent acute care Trauma leadership experience , with experience within the last year preferred/required. Previous experience as a Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Coordinator, or similar trauma leadership professional . Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license or multi-state compact RN license . Associate Degree required. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required. BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date if not held at the time of hire. Demonstrated knowledge of trauma program operations, performance improvement, quality management, and clinical outcomes. Experience with trauma registry processes and data integrity. Understanding of trauma program verification and re-verification requirements. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
