Early Career Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join a small engineering team building AI-powered backend systems that reduce administrative work in healthcare and help patients access care sooner. You will develop infrastructure for onboarding customers and securely processing clinical information.

What You'll Do

• Design and deploy backend systems that process high volumes of data through APIs.

• Shape product improvements by incorporating direct customer feedback.

• Build reliable, secure infrastructure for AI agents working with clinical information.

• Own critical backend systems and guide their technical evolution.

• Scale architecture to support customer onboarding and organizational growth.

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field, with 0 to 1 years of professional backend software development experience.

• Experience shipping production software or systems.

• Proficiency in Python and experience with at least one other major programming or systems language.

• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or similar tools.

• An understanding of prompt engineering and a record of meaningful contributions to public code projects.

• Currently employed in a role at an established company, with an interest in building impactful healthcare products.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is $120,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site five days per week in San Francisco, California, United States.
