Early Childhood Development (ECD)

The IRC, in partnership with Sesame Workshop, is implementing the "Ahlan Simsim" program to provide early learning and nurturing care to children and caregivers affected by conflict and displacement across the Middle East. Our goal is to create inclusive environments where all children, regardless of their background, can reach their full potential, especially in communities that have experienced the brunt of the conflict.

Job Overview

The Early Childhood Development Program Incentive worker will work under the direct supervision of the Early Childhood Development Program Officer-HSK. He will be responsible for disseminating and implementing the program’s service and awareness messages and sessions provided by the Early Childhood Development Program, in addition to working on introducing the program’s service, introducing local communities to it, linking them to the service, and assisting the program’s staff in achieving work requirements.

Responsibilities

The ECD incentive worker is expected to undertake the following tasks:

  • Facilitating links between IRC staff, key community leaders, representatives of the target population, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as a focal point of contact in facilitating IRC's access to the sites and population groups concerned, in addition to the early childhood development program's cooperation with relevant authorities and institutions.
  • Providing information and awareness sessions about the early childhood development program services provided in HSK and surrounding communities/sites
  • Mobilize communities and provide regular updates on service availability.
  • Participate in awareness sessions and deliver awareness messages to local communities and caregivers.
  • Facilitate interactive ECD sessions and activities for children aged (0-8) years.
  • Facilitate interactive ECD sessions and activities for male caregivers.
  • Data collection and entry as needed and report accurate data reflecting M&E guidelines.
  • Attending all relevant training and capacity-building workshops as specified by the supervisor.
  • Providing the required assistance to the program’s employees to help facilitate service provision, work requirements, and any work required from the direct supervisor.
  • Adhere to and act in accordance with the IRC Global HR Policies and Procedures and communicate through word and example a high standard of compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.

Job Requirements

Education: Educational university degree, preferably related to Early Childhood Development (kindergarten, Education- Classroom Teacher)

Work Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in early childhood development programs.
  • 2 years’ Experience in dealing with children and caregivers.
  • 2 years’ experience in Child Protection & Case Management programs preferred
  • At least one years of experience in facilitation .
  • Good knowledge of working with data collection applications such as ComCare, Kobo...etc) Required.
  • Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel) preferred
  • Good organizational skills and effective communication

  • Credible written, presentation and verbal communication skills; ability to convey information effectively and solid experience providing training and staff development.

  • Excellent management and interpersonal skills and a solid ability to promote harmonious/cohesive teamwork, in a cross-cultural context.
  • Validated ability to plan long-term, organize priorities and work under administrative and programmatic pressures with detail orientation and professional patience.
  • Highly collaborative and resourceful; ability to establish positive working relationships with senior level management and all other partners to maximize cooperation and productivity.
  • Curiosity, a desire to continually learn and develop is a must.
  • Analytical ability in creating effective solutions to complex matters while adhering to labor laws and internal policies.

Language/Travel

  • Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading in Arabic is required.
  • Ability to move between work sites. as well as attending regional and global workshops and meetings.

Indirect Reporting: None

Key Internal Contacts: ECD program team and the IRC staff

Key External Contacts: Local communities done by the ECD officer\ ECD manager
