A Day in the Life

We are seeking a Quality leader to serve as the Engineering Director of Customer Focused Quality. This role will lead customer-facing quality strategy and communications, strengthen cross-functional readiness for proactive and reactive quality events, and help ensure our field and customer interactions reflect the highest standards of technical accuracy, clinical relevance, and consistency.

This role is critical to advancing EPT Quality by building a strong customer-focused quality capability that supports physicians, hospitals, regulators, and internal partners with confidence and clarity.

This role is based at our Mounds View, MN facility and requires onsite presence 4 days per week to support collaboration and business objectives. Travel of up to 25% is expected for in-person meetings and successful project execution.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Plan, direct, and implement all aspects of customer-facing communications related to EPT Quality
  • Develop, evaluate, and maintain technical quality materials for customers and regulators
  • Participate and lead across EPT Quality as a staff member reporting directly to the Quality Vice President
  • Prepare and coach leaders for quality-related conversations and meetings, including those involving Field Corrective Actions and individual hospital complaints
  • Ensure consistent, timely, and appropriate support for customers by MDT EPT leaders and the Customer Focused Quality group, including yourself
  • Build Customer Focused Quality into a critical capability within EPT Quality by developing talent with deep understanding of clinical practice, physician needs, and the EPT portfolio
  • Add and develop CAS talent while expanding CRM capability within the organization to fully cover the EPT portfolio
  • Collaborate within Quality on released product investigations and support the planning and facilitation of Independent Physician Quality Panel discussions
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Quality, EPT Post-Market Quality, Medical Safety, Marketing/Communications, and CMO office to ensure readiness for proactive and reactive customer communications
  • Monitor progress on quality issues and ensure timely, appropriate documentation and communication
  • Accountable for the EPT Quality Publication Plan, including regular updates to support product performance, reliability testing, design strength, and response to competitor or negative performance claims
  • Promote Medtronic EPT”s excellent product reliability and customer support in the broader EP community

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical field
  • 10 years of experience in medical device quality or customer-facing quality leadership
  • Established leadership in medical device industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical and clinical information effectively with physicians, customers, internal leaders, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Proven success leading cross-functional communications and quality issue management
  • Strong understanding of complaint handling, released product investigations, field corrective actions, and post-market quality processes
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable customer communications
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Experience working closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and/or hospital systems on quality-related matters
  • Familiarity with Enterprise quality, post-market surveillance, and medical safety processes
  • Experience managing quality communications in a regulated medical device environment
  • Experience leading or supporting scientific, technical, or publication planning efforts

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$198,400.00 - $297,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
