Job Description
At Nöord Technologies, we empower top-tier financial institutions with exceptional talent in banking and capital markets. For the needs of one of our prestigious clients, a major banking actor in Montreal currently experiencing strong growth, we are actively seeking an experienced Senior Equity & Derivatives Application Support Analyst.
About the Role
As a member of a high-impact Capital Markets support team, you will act as the primary liaison for business users—including Traders, Sales, and Operations—ensuring the seamless operation and availability of trading systems across the Americas.
This position is strongly focused on functional, front-office application support rather than heavy software engineering. You will work closely and directly with traders to troubleshoot issues live on their trading screens, analyze order flows, and resolve operational bottlenecks in a fast-paced environment. Proven expertise in Equities and Derivatives is essential, and prior exposure to pre-trade workflows is considered a strong plus (nice to have).
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the dedicated front-line IT contact for New York-based and regional Trading, Sales, and Operations desks.
Investigate and troubleshoot real-time behavior, execution queries, and trade flow discrepancies directly on trader screens.
Take ownership of incident management: triage, perform root-cause analysis, and drive timely resolution within agreed SLAs while maintaining clear communication with Front-Office stakeholders.
Handle day-to-day business requests, configuration updates, and front-to-back workflow validations.
Proactively monitor system health and platform performance using established monitoring tooling to prevent business disruptions.
Collaborate with global development and infrastructure teams to identify recurring issues and implement permanent platform enhancements.
Coordinate handovers and maintain follow-the-sun alignment with international support peers in Europe and Asia
Requirements
Requirements & Candidate Profile
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of application or functional support experience within Capital Markets or investment banking.
Business Knowledge: Strong domain understanding of Equities (cash equities, indices) and Derivatives (options, futures, swaps).
Pre-Trade Advantage: Practical understanding of pre-trade processes (order routing, validation checks, credit/limit controls) is a strong asset (nice to have).
Technical Proficiency: Practical ability to write SQL queries for data investigation, familiarity with Linux/Windows platforms, and experience with ticketing (e.g., Jira) and monitoring systems (e.g., Geneos, ELK).
Soft Skills: Outstanding communication skills with the composure and confidence required to engage directly with traders under active market conditions.
Languages: Fluent English is mandatory for daily collaboration with US and global trading desks; French is a valuable asset (nice to have).
