The Duke Birthing Center provides exceptional care for more than 4,000 births annually and serves as a regional referral center for women with high-risk and medically complex pregnancies.
As a Level IV Maternal Care Center, our team specializes in caring for the most complex maternal and fetal conditions while delivering a personalized, family-centered birth experience.
Our unit features:
- 20 Labor & Delivery Suites
- 10-bed OB Emergency Department
- 3 Dedicated Obstetrical Operating Rooms
- 24/7 Maternal-Fetal Medicine Coverage
- In-house Obstetricians, Midwives, Neonatologists, and Anesthesia Providers
- Advanced maternal and neonatal technologies
- Strong shared governance and nursing leadership support
Whether supporting routine labor or responding to high-acuity maternal emergencies, you'll practice at the highest level of your nursing license alongside some of the nation's leading experts in maternal and neonatal care.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure exceptional clinical outcomes and patient experiences.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care
- Coordinating care across the interdisciplinary team
- Supporting patients and families through labor, delivery, recovery, and obstetric emergencies
- Participating in quality, education, and professional practice initiatives
- Promoting an environment of respect, teamwork, and service excellence
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited BSN, ADN, or Diploma Nursing Program
- BSN strongly preferred. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of RN clinical experience required
- Labor & Delivery, Women's Services, Critical Care, Emergency Department, or Maternal-Child experience preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Current RN License in North Carolina or Compact State License
- BLS Certification required
