TerraPower is a nuclear technology company based in Bellevue, Washington. At its core, the company is working to raise living standards globally through a more affordable, secure, and environmentally friendly form of nuclear energy along with innovations in medical isotopes to improve human health. In 2006, TerraPower originated with Bill Gates and a group of like-minded visionaries who evaluated the fundamental challenges to raising living standards around the world. They recognized energy access was crucial to the health and economic well-being of communities and decided that the private sector needed to take action and create energy sources that would advance global energy deployment. TerraPower’s mission is to be a world leader in new nuclear technologies, while developing innovators and future leaders in the nuclear field. As a result, the company’s activities in the fields of nuclear energy and related sciences are yielding significant innovations in the safety and economics of nuclear power, hybrid energy and medical applications – all for significant human health benefits.
TerraPower is seeking to hire highly motivated and forward-thinking professionals who are interested in focusing on advanced nuclear reactor research and development and influencing change within the nuclear power landscape and bringing forward the critical production of medical isotopes. TerraPower is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate in hiring on the basis of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religious creed, national origin, physical or mental disability, protected Veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
Manager, Facilities Technology
TerraPower's Real Estate and Facilities team is responsible for the design, implementation, operations, and management of TerraPower's locations. The Manager, Facilities Technology Services, owns the technology layer that makes TerraPower's physical workplaces function: visitor management, space and seating management, physical security and access control, enterprise voice and conferencing, and print and reprographics services.
This role will provide leadership and oversight for Facilities Technology services, including Audio/Visual (A/V), Microsoft Teams Rooms, access control and security systems, Microsoft Teams administration, telephone and communications technology, visitor management, space reservation, asset tracking, and related technology platforms.
The Manager, Facilities Technology will lead a team responsible for the delivery and support of TerraPower’s Facilities Technology services across several sites in the Unites States. Direct reports will include a Systems Engineer II and a Facilities Application Support Technician II. The Manager will establish priorities, assign work, provide coaching and performance management, support professional development, and ensure the team delivers reliable, secure, and high-quality technology services.
This is a working manager role. In addition to leading the team, the incumbent remains a hands-on senior practitioner: personally resolving escalated issues, standing up technology in new buildings, and providing technical direction across low-voltage hardware, IP networking, and cloud-managed SaaS platforms. The role demands genuine depth in both telecommunications and networking — applied primarily to diagnosis, specification, and coordination rather than to administration of the underlying server and network infrastructure, which is owned by Enterprise IT.
The Manager serves as a key liaison between the Real Estate and Facilities organization, Enterprise IT, Security, Construction, Project Management, and external technology vendors, and reports to the Director of Real Estate and Facilities.
Direct Reports
- Systems Engineer II — Responsible for engineering, implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of Facilities technology infrastructure, including AV and conferencing systems, Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms, access control and video surveillance hardware, telecommunications endpoints, and networking-related facility systems.
- Facilities Application Support Technician II — Responsible for operational support and administration of Facilities applications and platforms, including visitor management, space and seating management, badge production, asset records, and print and reprographics services.
Key Responsibilities
People and Team Leadership
- Directly manage the Systems Engineer II and Facilities Application Support Technician II, setting priorities, expectations, and accountability.
- Establish team goals and prioritize operational support, projects, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members; build technical depth across access control, AV and voice, workplace applications, and networking fundamentals so coverage does not depend on any single person.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and development planning; recognize strong performance and address performance gaps directly and constructively.
- Build and manage on-call, after-hours, and travel rotations equitably across the team, and participate in that rotation personally.
- Foster a culture of ownership, documentation, and customer service in a function that represents technology at the most visible touchpoints in every building.
Facilities Technology Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and execute a Facilities technology strategy aligned with TerraPower's IT standards, business objectives, facility requirements, and future growth.
- Establish clear ownership and accountability for Facilities-owned technology systems and services, and maintain the documented boundary with Enterprise IT.
- Lead the day-to-day operations, support, and continuous improvement of Facilities Technology systems across all TerraPower locations.
- Evaluate, pilot, and onboard additional workplace technology tools as the portfolio grows, assessing business requirements, technical feasibility, security, cost, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues, coordinating resolution across Facilities, Enterprise IT, Security, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Visitor Management and Workplace Systems
- Own the iLobby visitor management platform, including kiosk hardware, host notification workflows, watchlist and compliance screening configuration, visitor badge issuance, and site-specific check-in requirements.
- Own Maptician for seating assignments, desk and workspace hoteling, floor plan accuracy, neighborhood and team zoning, and space utilization reporting.
- Partner with Facilities, HR, and site leadership on moves, adds, and changes; ensure floor plans and assignment data remain accurate as headcount and site configurations change.
Physical Security Technology and Access Control
- Own the Lenel access control system: cardholder records, access levels and group design, credential lifecycle, door schedules, alarm and event configuration, and audit reporting.
- Own badge production end to end — badge printers, consumables, templates, credential encoding, and issuance procedures across all sites.
- Oversee video surveillance systems, including camera health, placement and commissioning, retention and storage configuration, and footage retrieval requests in coordination with Security and Legal.
- Oversee door and security hardware at all building entrances and egresses: readers, controllers, electrified hardware, request-to-exit devices, intercoms, panels, and associated low-voltage infrastructure.
- Serve as the technical owner of the relationship with the 24/7 security monitoring vendor; manage escalation paths, alarm response configuration, service levels, and coordination during incidents.
- Ensure access control and physical security requirements are met at laboratory and construction environments, including restricted and controlled areas, and that audit and compliance expectations are satisfied.
Enterprise Voice, Conferencing, and Collaboration Technology
- Manage the enterprise phone system within delegated administrative scope, including number assignment, user provisioning, call routing, hunt groups, emergency calling and location data, and coordination of porting activity with Enterprise IT and the carrier.
- Own Microsoft Teams Phone administration at the user and device level: voice policies, calling plan assignment, device enrollment, and troubleshooting. Tenant-level policy and licensing changes are requested through Enterprise IT.
- Own Microsoft Teams Rooms administration using Microsoft management tooling (Teams Rooms Pro Management / Teams admin center) for device health monitoring, firmware and update management, remote remediation, and room account configuration.
- Own Zoom Rooms and room control administration, including meeting and room settings, device provisioning, and license assignment within the delegated Zoom administrator role.
- Set and maintain conference room and collaboration space standards so meeting experiences are consistent across headquarters, branch offices, labs, and field sites; approve deviations where site conditions require them.
- Provide technical leadership for AV design, commissioning, and support at new and renovated sites, and direct AV integrators on standards, cabling, displays, cameras, and control systems.
Print, Plot, and Reprographics Services
- Own printers, large-format plotters, and 3D printers across all sites, including device configuration, queue setup, access permissions, and vendor service coordination; specify driver requirements and partner with Enterprise IT for packaged driver deployment to managed endpoints.
- Own the Find Me Print environment at the application level, providing universal secure release printing for staff anywhere on the network; maintain release stations and device enrollment, and coordinate with Enterprise IT on print server availability, patching, and authentication integration.
- Manage consumables, service contracts, and fleet refresh planning with Facilities and Procurement.
Project and Vendor Management
- Lead Facilities Technology for construction, renovation, relocation, and expansion projects from design input through installation, commissioning, acceptance, and handover to steady-state support.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design solutions, sequence work against construction schedules, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Manage integrators, installers, low-voltage contractors, AV integrators, monitoring providers, and service organizations; define scope, review designs, verify workmanship, and confirm system acceptance.
- Approve technical designs, project deliverables, implementation plans, and operational handoffs produced by the team and by vendors.
- Own vendor performance: hold providers to scope, schedule, quality, and service levels, and escalate or replace where performance falls short.
Service Delivery, Standards, and Continuous Improvement
- Own the Facilities technology queue in Jira: triage, prioritization, SLA adherence, resolution, and trend analysis; drive down recurring issue volume through root cause fixes, automation, and documentation.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, procedures, runbooks, system diagrams, service levels, asset records, and lifecycle practices for all supported platforms, and hold the team to them.
- Ensure compliance with TerraPower's IT architecture, cybersecurity, ITSM, change management, and asset management standards.
- Monitor service performance and report on reliability, ticket trends, project status, and utilization to Facilities and IT leadership.
- Represent facilities technology requirements in IT change management, network design, and security review processes so that dependencies are identified before they become outages.
- Raise and track network, server, identity, patching, and vulnerability remediation work for facilities systems with Enterprise IT, supplying the diagnostic detail needed for IT to act quickly.
- Lead after-hours and emergency response for access control, security, and critical conferencing incidents, including participation in the on-call rotation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Facilities Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of progressive experience supporting enterprise facilities, workplace, or physical security technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing technical professionals or leading technical teams, with demonstrated responsibility for employee development, performance management, and work prioritization; experience leading technical staff with diverse responsibilities is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience owning multiple technology systems and services concurrently within a corporate environment, including setting standards and service levels.
- Hands-on administration experience with an enterprise access control platform (Lenel OnGuard or equivalent), including cardholder management, access level design, and badge production.
- Hands-on experience with IP video surveillance systems and low-voltage security hardware.
- Demonstrated experience administering enterprise voice services, including Microsoft Teams Phone or a comparable UCaaS/VoIP platform.
- Working administration experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms and the associated Microsoft management tooling, and with Zoom / Zoom Rooms administration and controls.
- Telecommunications depth: practical understanding of SIP, VoIP call flow, PSTN connectivity and number porting, E911/emergency location requirements, analog and digital endpoints, and voice quality troubleshooting.
- Networking depth: practical understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, switching, PoE, QoS for voice and video, structured cabling, and wireless fundamentals — sufficient to isolate whether a fault sits in the device, the network, or the platform, and to hand the networking team a precise, evidence-backed problem statement.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and Windows desktop administration — Active Directory, Group Policy, print server administration, and driver deployment — sufficient to specify requirements and validate work performed by Enterprise IT, even though the role does not hold administrative rights to these systems.
- Experience managing print environments, including secure release/pull printing platforms and large-format plotters.
- Experience leading technology implementation projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, vendor coordination, testing, deployment, and operational transition; experience commissioning technology in new buildings from design through acceptance is preferred.
- Experience managing technology vendors, contractors, systems integrators, monitoring providers, and service organizations, including scope definition, quality verification, and performance management.
- Direct experience with iLobby and Maptician, or comparable visitor management and space/hoteling platforms, is preferred.

- Ability to obtain and maintain site access requirements for laboratory and nuclear construction environments.
- Lead with integrity and accountability, demonstrating sound judgment while setting clear expectations, developing team members, and fostering ownership and continuous improvement.
- Treat these systems as owned products rather than tickets — anticipating failures, planning refreshes, closing gaps before they become outages, and leaving behind runbooks and records that allow others to support the environment.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively, building strong relationships with employees, stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Drive customer-focused outcomes, balancing reliability, security, cost, and business needs while prioritizing effectively in a dynamic environment.
