Overview Northwest Permanente (NWP) is the largest multispecialty medical group in Oregon and southwest Washington with 1,500+ physicians and 300+ administrative professionals caring for 615,000+ Kaiser Permanente members. The Family Medicine Residency Program Director plays an integral role in the academic and clinical training of the Kaiser Permanente family medicine residents. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the residency program while ensuring strict compliance with ACGME accreditation standards and institutional policies. This Program Director role will foster an educational environment conducive to professional growth, collaborating closely with faculty, administrative leaders, and clinical partners to shape the future of medical education. Major Responsibilities: Oversees full compliance with ACGME institutional, common, and specialty-specific requirements. Maintains and updates ACGME WebADS, coordinates annual surveys, drafts Program Letters of Agreement (PLAs), and spearheads preparations for ACGME site visits. Develops, implements, and continuously evaluates the residency curriculum. Plans and executes didactics, ensures rotation goals and objectives are distributed, tracks resident scholarly activity, and monitors clinical and educational work-hour compliance. Leads resident selection and interview processes through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Chair the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), manages 360-degree milestone evaluations, submits semi-annual milestone data to the ACGME, and manages remediation or due process protocols when necessary. Recruits, retains, and mentors high-quality faculty. Partners with the Program Manager and Graduate Medical Education Office to establish and track the residency operational budget. Leads the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) to design and execute annual program improvement action plans. Minimum Qualifications: Board-certified MD or DO in Family Medicine. Become and remain an active member of the Oregon Council for Family Medicine Residency Programs (ORCA-FM). Must meet or be eligible to meet ACGME Program Director qualifications for an accredited Family Medicine residency program. Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in Family Medicine, including demonstrated experience as a core faculty member or leader within an ACGME-accredited graduate medical education program. Must maintain or develop full-scope Family Medicine practice that includes outpatient primary care, inpatient/hospital medicine, and labor and delivery services, consistent with the requirements of the residency program. Demonstrated commitment to faculty development, scholarly activity, and continuous improvement in graduate medical education. Strong leadership, conflict resolution, budget management, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to graduate medical education, resident development, continuous quality improvement, and maintaining ACGME accreditation standards. Maintain 0.50 FTE clinical practice. Internal Candidates: Northwest Permanente (NWP) Senior physician in good standing, preferably NWP shareholder. Exceptions may be considered with leadership approval. Current hiring incentives for this role: Relocation allowance – up to $15,000 Generous sign-on incentives - up to $150,000 The annual salary for this position is $246,400 - $280,000 which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, training, market data, and other relevant factors.
