Finance Operations Associate/VP | Private Equity

A boutique, highly successful private equity real estate investment firm, backed by a single long-term institutional investor rather than a syndicated or repeat-raise capital base. The firm provides structured debt and equity capital into complex, large-ticket transactions (typically €250m–€1.2bn+) across the UK, Western Europe and North America, and has built one of the most respected track records in the space over more than a decade — without ever needing to market or publicise itself.

This is a newly created role at a pivotal growth moment for the firm.

The Role

This isn't a back-office, accounts-ticking seat, there's a Financial Controller who owns that. This role sits at the intersection of finance and the investment team: genuinely hands-on, working directly with senior dealmakers on live transactions, not just reporting on them afterwards.

Core responsibilities include:

• Supporting execution of new transactions — managing external advisers on financial/tax diligence and structuring, overseeing closing processes and funds flow across UK, US and European jurisdictions
• Treasury and cash management at investment and asset level, including capital calls and distributions
• Coordinating investor reporting (monthly, quarterly, ad hoc)
• Supporting portfolio and asset-level operations and financial control, particularly in special situations
• Reviewing legal documentation and contracts relevant to structuring and transactions
• Supporting valuation processes and liaising with third-party providers
• You'll be in the room when deals close, closely involved with senior partners and investment professionals, not sitting apart from them.

About You

• ACA or ACCA qualified, a couple of years post-qualified through to senior manager level (director-level candidates, or anyone already leading a team, won't be the right fit for this role)
• Background in a private equity or real estate finance function, fund administrator, or audit/TS practice — fund experience matters more than real estate specifically; real estate can be learned
• Strong financial literacy — comfortable interrogating a model and asking the right questions, though you won't be expected to build one from scratch
• Genuinely hands-on: humble, curious, happy to turn your hand to whatever the day requires, and comfortable in a small, close-knit team rather than a large corporate structure
• Loves problem solving; from very small to very large strategic decisions
• Confident enough to constructively challenge senior colleagues when something doesn't sit right — this remains a control function
• Additional European languages (Spanish, French, German) are a plus but not required
