About 'Grey Brick Capital'
'Grey Brick Capital' is a Luxembourg-based holding and investment company specialising in systematic research and autonomous algorithmic trading. We build and run trading strategies grounded in rigorous quantitative research, and we are expanding the research team behind them.
The role
We are looking for an English and Russian-speaking Financial Analyst with deep expertise in US equities to join our research team. Vast experience is not required but a desire to learn and explore is expected. You will source, clean and analyse large datasets, develop and test hypotheses about US equity markets, and translate your findings into inputs for our trading models. You will work closely with our quantitative researchers and developers, so you should be comfortable turning an analytical idea into something measurable, testable and reproducible.
What you will do
- Conduct fundamental and quantitative research on US-listed equities, sectors and market structure.
- Build, maintain and audit large financial datasets (pricing, fundamentals, corporate actions, alternative data); ensure data quality and point-in-time integrity.
- Design and run statistical analyses and backtests; evaluate signals for robustness, decay and overfitting.
- Build and maintain analytical models and dashboards in Excel and Bloomberg; automate recurring workflows where possible.
- Monitor earnings, macro releases and corporate events relevant to the US equity universe and assess their impact on live and candidate strategies.
- Document research clearly and present findings and recommendations to the research and trading teams.
- Contribute to risk and performance reviews of existing strategies.
What we require
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering or a related quantitative field.
- Experience working with big data: large time-series or cross-sectional datasets, data cleaning, joining multiple sources, handling survivorship and look-ahead bias.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (complex modelling, Power Query, VBA) and strong proficiency with Bloomberg Terminal (Excel API, BQL/BDH, screening, event and fundamentals data).
- Deep understanding of mathematics, statistical analysis and probability theory: regression, hypothesis testing, time-series methods, distributions, Monte Carlo methods, understanding of Markov and Hidden Markov models.
- Strong grasp of US market mechanics: trading sessions, corporate actions, index rebalances, earnings cycles, regulatory filings (10-K/10-Q/8-K).
- Clear written and spoken English and Russian. Precise, well-structured communication of complex results.
- Attention to detail, intellectual honesty and the discipline to distinguish signal from noise.
- Eligibility to work in the EU, or willingness to relocate with visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Python or R for data analysis (pandas, NumPy, statsmodels) and SQL.
- Experience with backtesting frameworks or working alongside systematic trading teams.
- Familiarity with alternative data (sentiment, web, transactional) and with data vendors such as Refinitiv, FactSet, Compustat or CRSP.
- Knowledge of portfolio construction, factor models and risk management.
What we offer
- Competitive salary €60,000-€96,000 plus discretionary performance bonus.
- Pension contribution, health insurance, relocation support.
- A small, highly technical team with short decision paths and direct exposure to live trading.
- Large research budget for data, tools and training.
- Modern office.
