Are you an experienced finance professional with strong financial reporting expertise and the ability to turn complex results into meaningful insights? We are looking for someone who can apply sound judgment, provide technical guidance, review reporting deliverables, and help advance our financial reporting capabilities through automation, AI-enabled solutions, and modern technologies.

About the Role

As a Financial Reporting Specialist, you will take ownership of financial reporting and analysis for the US L&H Reinsurance legal entities. This role is designed for an experienced professional who can combine hands-on execution with review, technical judgment, and continuous improvement. You will apply your financial reporting and insurance accounting expertise to produce and review accurate, timely, and insightful information, investigate complex reporting matters, and provide guidance to colleagues and stakeholders across Finance and business functions. You will also play a leading role in strengthening controls, improving reporting processes, and advancing automation through AI-enabled solutions and modern technologies. This is a fantastic opportunity to build upon your strong foundation in U.S. Statutory reporting while helping shape the future of Finance in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver high-quality U.S. Statutory financial reporting for assigned legal entities or reporting areas, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established accounting guidance, controls, and deadlines
  • Execute financial reporting deliverables and performance analysis providing constructive feedback and ensuring issues are resolved before submission
  • Analyze and interpret legal entity performance, including significant variances, emerging trends, and underlying business drivers, partnering across Finance and business functions to collect insights and validate key performance drivers
  • Lead assigned period-end close and reporting activities, coordinating dependencies, monitoring deliverables, and resolving issues that could affect reporting quality or deadlines
  • Own and oversee key control activities, ensuring documentation is complete, evidence is retained, and identified control or reporting issues are addressed appropriately
  • Identify and lead process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and simplify workflows through AI-enabled solutions and modern reporting technologies

About the Team

The Americas Carrier Management Team is a highly motivated and forward-thinking group dedicated to continuously developing and strengthening reporting, consolidation, and analytical capabilities. We are passionate about delivering insightful, meaningful, and decision-ready financial information to our stakeholders and business leaders. As part of this team, you will work in an intellectually stimulating and complex environment that encourages curiosity, innovation, and collaboration. We are at the forefront of transforming Finance through the adoption of modern technologies and AI-enabled solutions, embedding automation and advanced analytics into our core processes. This creates unique opportunities to shape the future of Finance while working with cutting-edge tools and technologies. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact — building and enhancing capabilities that support strategic decision-making across the organization, all while being supported by experienced colleagues who are invested in your growth and development.

About You

You bring strong financial reporting judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. You communicate complex financial information clearly and build effective partnerships across reporting lines and functions. You are comfortable working independently, making informed recommendations, and constructively challenging existing conclusions or processes. You remain adaptable and collaborative while providing guidance, sharing expertise, and helping others navigate complex reporting matters.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in insurance, reinsurance, financial reporting, or public accounting/audit, including experience supporting financial statements or U.S. Statutory reporting
  • Experience independently preparing and reviewing financial reporting deliverables, account analyses, reconciliations, and period-end close activities, while demonstrating strong intellectual curiosity to understand results, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to research reporting questions, evaluate supporting information and key financial control evidence, exercise sound judgment, and clearly document conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate deliverables and influence outcomes across teams and reporting lines
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to use data and reporting technologies to improve Finance processes
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and resolve issues in a reporting environment

These are additional nice-to-haves:

  • CPA certification or equivalent preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting systems and automation tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or similar platforms
  • Experience leading process improvements, system implementations, or cross-functional projects
  • Experience working with complex reinsurance arrangements and multiple accounting/reporting bases

The role will be located in our Kansas City, MO office. Our company uses a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office each week, with the option to work onsite full-time if preferred. This position is not eligible for full-time telework, relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
