Forward Deployed AI Engineer

About the Role

This hands-on, customer-facing engineering role sits at the intersection of AI, product, and implementation at an AI-powered insurance technology company. You will work with enterprise insurance brokerages to understand their workflows, build automations, and deliver solutions quickly, while bringing successful patterns back into the core platform.

What You'll Do

• Lead customer implementations from gathering requirements through deployment.

• Build and ship AI agents and workflow automations based on customer needs.

• Work directly with post-sales enterprise customers to scope technical solutions.

• Deliver working solutions rapidly, often within the same week as customer conversations.

• Turn effective customer-specific implementations into reusable platform capabilities.

• Partner with product and engineering teams to translate customer insights into scalable features.

What We're Looking For

• Three to six years of software engineering, forward deployed, solutions, implementation, or product engineering experience.

• Experience balancing hands-on coding with customer scoping, requirements gathering, and regular enterprise communication.

• Full-stack development skills and proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.

• Post-sales customer-facing engineering experience, including building and shipping solutions quickly.

• Startup or software consulting experience, including experience at a venture-backed startup.

• A track record of building or scaling enterprise deployments, product features, or automations for large customers.

• Strong technical fundamentals and the ability to shift between customer communication and focused coding.

• Experience with production AI/ML automations or agentic workflows is a plus, as is experience in insurance or financial services.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary: $180,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, California, United States.
