Forward Deployed AI Engineer

About the Role

Join an engineering team building AI tools for insurance brokerages. This hands-on, customer-facing role combines software development with post-sales scoping: you'll understand customer workflows, build and deploy practical solutions, and help turn successful implementations into scalable platform capabilities. The work is roughly 70% coding and 30% customer collaboration.

What You'll Do

• Own customer implementations from requirements gathering through deployment.

• Build and ship AI agents and workflow automations, often delivering working solutions within the same week as customer conversations.

• Work directly with enterprise customers after a sale to understand business problems and scope technical solutions.

• Bring successful customer-specific work into the core platform and collaborate with product and engineering teams on scalable features.

• Balance customer communication and rapid implementation with focused software development.

What We're Looking For

• Three to six years of software engineering, forward deployed, solutions, implementation, or product engineering experience.

• Customer-facing post-sales engineering experience, including scoping needs, building solutions, and shipping quickly.

• Full-stack development experience and proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.

• Experience at a venture-backed startup or in software consulting, with exposure to enterprise deployments and customer-facing product work.

• Experience building and deploying AI or machine learning automations in production is a plus, including LLM-based workflows.

• Insurance or financial services experience is helpful, as is a strong academic background.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $180,000 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, California, United States.
