to help expand our
Gastroenterology Hospitalist service line
in Newport News, Virginia.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and growing team in a well-established health system.
Position Highlights:
GI Hospitalist role with 7
days on / 7 days off
schedule (12-hour shifts)
ERCP skills preferred
Mix of inpatient consults, rounding, and procedures
Dedicated inpatient endoscopy suite
Collaborative team including 3 hospitalists, 10 outpatient physicians, and 2 advanced procedural physicians
Advanced practice provider support
Strong primary care referral base
Epic electronic health record system
Opportunity to teach FM, IM, and EM residents if desired
Competitive base compensation with top end earning potential
Comprehensive benefits package including malpractice with tail coverage, signing bonus, relocation allowance, final year training stipend, and retention bonuses
Key Responsibilities:
Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations and manage acute GI conditions
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy and upper endoscopy
Participate in inpatient rounding and collaborate with hospitalists and specialists
Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary care planning
Engage in teaching opportunities with residents and medical students, if desired
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
Licensed Medical Doctor in the State of Virginia
Current DEA certification
