General Manager
Toronto, Ontario (GTA) | Regular in-office presence required
Engagement: Full-time
Reports to: Founder & CEO, Spencer Xu
Leads: Functional leaders across Product, Growth & Marketing, Finance, and Operations; senior on-site leader of the Canadian office
About Snaplii
Snaplii is a North American fintech company with offices in Toronto and Silicon Valley. Our consumer wallet helps people save on everyday spending at 500+ brands, with over $100M in annual transaction volume and 200,000+ users. We are Series B, have raised more than $20M, and are profitable.
Building on that wallet, we are developing agent-ready payment capabilities that let AI agents make purchases on behalf of users, under the user's authorization and spending controls.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a hands-on General Manager to lead Snaplii's day-to-day operations and serve as the senior on-site leader of our Canadian office. You will manage functional leaders, resolve cross-functional issues, drive business performance, and hold teams accountable for execution across our consumer wallet business and AI payments initiatives.
Working within agreed goals, budgets, and decision-making authority, you will keep the business moving independently when the CEO is travelling or focused on fundraising and strategic partnerships. This role requires a regular in-office presence in the Greater Toronto Area.
What You Will Do
Run the business day to day
- Serve as the senior on-site leader of the Canadian office and own its operating rhythm: weekly business reviews, team goals, priorities, and follow-through.
- Within agreed goals, budgets, and decision-making authority, set priorities, allocate resources, and make people decisions independently.
- Escalate to the CEO only what falls outside that authority.
Own the numbers
- Track and improve revenue, costs, transaction volume, and margins with the Finance team.
- Own the user funnel from acquisition to activation and repeat purchase; find where it leaks and fix it.
- Build and maintain the core metrics dashboard the company runs on.
Lead and align the team
- Manage the leads of Product, Growth & Marketing, Finance, and Operations, and set clear goals for each.
- Drive cross-functional projects to completion, resolving conflicts and trade-offs between teams.
- Build a high-performing team by identifying talent, evaluating performance, addressing underperformance and people conflicts directly, and ensuring the right people are accountable for the right outcomes.
- Build execution discipline: clear owners, deadlines, and accountability for results.
Keep operations reliable
- Oversee customer service, merchant relationships, transaction fulfillment, payment risk controls, and overall operational reliability.
- Work with compliance advisors and banking partners to keep operations compliant.
- Turn recurring work into clear SOPs so the business does not depend on any one person.
Partner with the CEO
- Organize product, operations, finance, and people in Canada to deliver on the AI payments partnerships the CEO brings in.
- Report business performance, risks, and decisions to the CEO on a regular cadence.
- Translate company strategy into quarterly operating plans and budgets.
What matters most: ownership, cross-functional execution, and sound business judgment backed by data.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in product, growth, or business operations at an internet or consumer technology company.
- Has managed multiple functional teams, directly or through their leads, and been accountable for business results. Managing a single team alone is unlikely to be enough.
- Hands-on people management: has handled underperformance, difficult personnel decisions, and conflicts between teams.
- Comfortable with financial statements and business data: revenue, costs, unit economics, and conversion funnels.
- A track record of driving outcomes across several functions, including teams that did not report to you.
- Strong ownership: able to run the business independently for weeks at a time and be accountable for results.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Mandarin, used daily to lead the team and work with partners.
- Able to work in-office in the Greater Toronto Area on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fintech, payments, digital wallets, e-commerce, or marketplaces.
- Experience at a startup or scale-up of roughly 20–200 people.
- Experience working with banking partners, compliance, or risk teams.
Compensation
Base salary: CA$160,000 – 200,000
Total compensation: up to CA$300,000 annually, including performance bonus and stock options
Snaplii supports Canadian work permit applications for qualified candidates, depending on role requirements and immigration eligibility.
Your First 90 Days
- Days 1–30: Learn the business, products, and numbers; meet every team lead; take over the weekly operating rhythm.
- Days 31–60: Lead the team and run operations independently; identify the top three operating problems and set team goals to address them.
- Days 61–90: Run the Canadian office for several weeks with the CEO away: resolve daily issues, push key projects forward, handle people issues, and deliver results on time. Present a 6–12 month operating plan and budget.
- Long-term performance: The business and AI payments delivery stay on track whether or not the CEO is in Canada.
Why Snaplii
Lead the operations of a profitable, growing fintech company as its senior on-site leader, work directly with the CEO, and own the results end to end.
