An established engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Department Manager to lead a growing geotechnical team in Charlotte, NC. The role combines technical oversight, operations, staff development, financial accountability, and business development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the full lifecycle of geotechnical engineering projects
- Lead geotechnical engineers, geologists, project managers, and technicians
- Ensure best practices, safety standards, and quality control
- Perform technical review of proposals, reports, and calculations
- Track department budget, revenue, forecasts, and financial performance
- Set group goals and develop staff through training
- Support business development through community involvement and client engagement
- Promote company values, positive culture, and engagement
REQUIRED
- BS in Civil or Geological Engineering (ABET accredited)
- 10+ years in civil or geotechnical engineering
- PE or PG license (unlicensed candidates must be eligible within 3 months of hire)
- Leadership and team management experience
- Department budgeting, forecasting, and P&L experience
- Proven client relationship and business growth success
- Strong understanding of site conditions and construction practices
PREFERRED
- MS in Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis
COMPENSATION: $90,000 to $135,000 base, full benefits, relocation assistance.
