Role Summary
The Global Supply Chain Launch Strategy Team Leader defines the strategy, standards, and end-to-end process architecture that Global Supply Chain (GSC) uses to plan and execute new product launches. Operating as a shared central service, this role designs the launch operating model, playbooks, governance routines, and decision frameworks that regional and functional teams draw on to execute launches consistently and efficiently. The role is accountable for strategic direction and launch execution. The role partners across GSC and its stakeholders to ensure the shared service model delivers measurable, repeatable launch performance. The role partners closely with the GTEL/Global Packaging and Launch Operations team on wave 1 market launches and leads launch strategy and process execution for Wave 2 and beyond country launches. As NPL activities centralize, the role also consolidates NPL process standardization, reporting, and PMO-for-NPL functions previously run independently by regional NPL leads and RSLs (e.g., EMEA, LATAM, APAC) into a single, standardized global supply chain enterprise capability.
Role Responsibilities
- Define and continuously evolve the launch strategy, multi-year roadmap, and future-state vision for how GSC plans and executes on those new product launches.
- Design, own, and maintain the GSC launch operating model, standard process architecture, governance framework, and decision rights as a shared central service available to all launch execution teams.
- Translate / Transform the NexGen NPL vision into standardized playbooks, methodologies, tools, and measurable outcomes that launch execution teams can adopt directly, reducing the need for teams to design their own approach.
- Embed lifecycle strategy into new product launch planning, ensuring launch decisions consider long-term supply, demand evolution, market expansion, lifecycle events, and transition pathways beyond wave 1 markets launch.
- Partner with PPLs, BSLs, Commercial, Regulatory, and Supply Planning to connect launch readiness with lifecycle scenarios such as additional indications, new presentations, geographic waves, volume inflection points, loss-of-exclusivity considerations, and supply network evolution.
- Create common lifecycle planning assumptions and decision frameworks that help launch teams balance speed-to-market, service levels, inventory strategy, complexity management, cost, and long-term product resilience.
- Partner with Commercial, Regulatory, Launch Operations, GTEL, PPLs, BSLs, GSP, Global Logistics, Market Supply Hub, Global Master Data, Digital, and regional/market teams to align strategy, embed standard process, and resolve systemic cross-functional constraints.
- Leads planning, and process execution efforts for Wave 2 and beyond country launches.
- NPL priority-setting for wave 2 plus markets between Commercial and PGS, NPL process standardization for GSC, process, and consolidating activity previously run independently by regional NPL leads and RSLs (e.g., EMEA, LATAM, APAC) into one standard enterprise approach.
- Serve as the enterprise subject-matter expert for NPL LIQ and provide central oversight of NPL systems setup, replacing duplicated market-level administration of these processes.
- Act as the central PMO lead and escalation point for NPL, including NPL priority appeals between Commercial and PGS and launch supply/inventory strategy alignment with Commercial, consistent with this role's direct leadership of Wave 2 and beyond country launches.
- Maintain a strategic, portfolio-level view of launch performance, risk trends, and process effectiveness, identifying where process redesign — rather than case-by-case intervention — will improve outcomes across new molecules, market expansions, line extensions, and re-commercializations.
- Lead continuous improvement of the launch process itself, including standard work, digitization, and AI/automation integration, ensuring the shared service evolves ahead of launch demand.
- Establish clear, documented ownership models and partner interface standards so execution teams have unambiguous accountability, reducing overlap, handoff friction, and escalation burden, without the strategy function taking on execution itself.
- Represent GSC launch strategy and process design in senior governance forums, communicating the health of the shared service, systemic risks, and the case for future process and strategy investment.
Basic Qualifications
- Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 12 years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 10+ years of experience; OR a PhD with 7+ years of experience
- Significant experience in strategy development, business process design, or operating-model design within global supply chain, launch management, or product lifecycle contexts.
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end pharmaceutical supply chain and launch processes, with the ability to translate operational complexity into scalable, standardized frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience designing and running a shared or central service / center-of-excellence model, including governance design and decision-rights clarity.
- Strong strategic planning, business process design, portfolio-level analysis, and executive communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and enable execution teams without direct authority over day-to-day launch delivery.
- Working fluency with digital and AI-enabled supply chain technologies — including predictive/prescriptive analytics, generative AI and agentic workflow tools, robotic process automation, control-tower/end-to-end visibility platforms, and ERP (e.g., SAP) — with the ability to translate emerging capability into practical, digitized process design.
- Data and systems fluency: comfortable working with launch performance dashboards, master data architecture, and process/system dependency mapping well enough to co-design future-state, technology-enabled processes directly with Digital, Data, and IT partners.
- Future-ready, adaptive leadership: proven ability to lead through ambiguity and continuous change, sense emerging technology and market shifts early, and evolve the operating model and team capabilities ahead of the business need rather than in reaction to it.
- Change leadership and digital capability-building skills to drive adoption of new tools, automation, and ways of working across a global, matrixed organization, including structured upskilling and digital-literacy programs for execution teams.
- Experience building communities of practice and driving adoption of standard methodologies across global, regional, and local stakeholders is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building communities of practice and driving adoption of standard methodologies across global, regional, and local stakeholders is preferred.
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business, engineering, life sciences, or related field preferred.
