Date: 26 Oct 2026
Requisition ID: 1167

About Snowy:

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

About the position:

Snowy Hydro is seeking an experienced Governance Manager to lead, develop, and oversee overarching governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.

In this critical subject-matter expert role, you will champion statutory, regulatory, and corporate compliance standards while empowering senior leadership with transparent reporting, risk assurance, and streamlined operational practices. You will act as a trusted advisor across the business, embedding a culture of ethics, accountability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Framework Development: Design and operationalise project governance structures, compliance monitoring programs, and efficient workflows for delegations of authority.

  • Risk & Assurance Alignment: Collaborate with the Project Risk Manager to align with Active Risk Manager (ARM) outputs, manage end-to-end internal/external audits, maintain project assurance maps, and drive the closure of governance gaps.

  • Reporting & Compliance: Govern the delivery of comprehensive performance reports to the Chief Delivery Officer and Project Leadership Team, oversee a centralised compliance register, and ensure timely, high-quality regulatory submissions.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Workstream Leads, SMEs, and key corporate functions (Legal, Finance, Corporate Risk) to simplify complex matters and integrate governance into daily engineering and construction activities.

About the location:

This role is located at our Project Head Office in Cooma, NSW. We can look at relocation or a FIFO arrangement and there may be a certain degree of flexibility for the right candidate.

About you:

  • Proven Governance Leadership: Previous experience managing risk, compliance, and governance frameworks on major infrastructure or energy projects.

  • Relevant Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Law, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Master Communicator: Skilled at simplifying complex regulatory and compliance requirements for senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strategic Partner & Presenter: Experienced in engaging high-level leadership and embedding a culture of compliance across operations.

  • Safety & Values Driven: Fully committed to zero harm, transparent teamwork, and collaborative partnerships

About our workforce:
