The Role

The Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary is part of the Emergency Care Complex. It works closely with the Emergency Department to provide timely assessment, treatment, and ongoing care for adults presenting with a wide range of acute medical conditions.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to join our dedicated AAU team. Working within a busy multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of high-quality patient care, ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate, and effective treatment throughout their admission.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Applicants must state their current right to work in their application. This post is eligible for sponsorship for roles of 31 hours or more.

Permanent, full-time and part-time available

Shift Pattern - 24 hours day/ night rotation

Base location - Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Undertake a range of clinical and technical duties within your scope of practice.
  • Assist with the assessment, monitoring, and ongoing care of patients with acute and often complex healthcare needs.
  • Ensure patients receive safe, compassionate, and person-centred care throughout their admission.
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of a fast-paced acute care environment.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Previous experience working within an Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), Medical Receiving Unit (MRU), Emergency Department (ED), or other acute care setting is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering person-centred care.
  • Competence in carrying out a range of clinical and technical duties appropriate to the role.
