The Role
Healthcare Support Worker (Ward 47, Plastic Surgery Unit)
Ward 47, based within the Plastic Surgery Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, provides a regional service across the West of Scotland for both elective and emergency admissions. The unit specialises in the care and treatment of patients requiring reconstructive surgery, including those affected by skin cancer, breast cancer and traumatic injuries. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated nursing team working within a dynamic and fast-paced clinical environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Monday – Sunday 12 Hour rotational shifts, including early, late’s and twilight’s
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with registered nurses, medical staff, healthcare support workers, physiotherapists and specialist nurses, you will support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care. Duties include assisting patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, comfort and independence; supporting registered nurses in delivering clinical care; observing, recording and reporting changes in patient condition; maintaining a safe and clean care environment; contributing to patient safety and quality standards; working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes; and communicating effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues.

- Caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work flexibly in a busy and changing clinical environment.
- SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards achieving this qualification..
- Willingness to complete relevant clinical competencies, including venepuncture and cannulation, with training support provided where required.
