The Role:

Catalyx is a trusted partner in delivering world-class lifecycle services to regulated and high-risk end markets. With a relentless commitment to innovation and excellence, we partner with life science and other highly regulated organisations, to empower them to enhance efficiency, and drive success. As part of this commitment, we are continuously developing our on-site teams to support the advancement of customer operations.

As Health & Safety and Facilities Manager, you will provide dedicated health and safety leadership across our customer’s manufacturing and site-based operations, and take ownership of the facility, plant, and services that keep production running safely. The business is at a critical growth stage — increasing production volume, expanding its project portfolio, and scaling operational complexity. You will be central to ensuring that growth never comes at the cost of the safety of our people.

This is a hands-on, floor-based role. You will be visible across both shifts every day, leading from the front, closing out hazards promptly, and building a safety culture that people live rather than just comply with.

Responsibilities:

1. Safety & Health Management

  • Develop and maintain the Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 and Irish health and safety legislation, including the Safety Statement and risk assessments.

  • Carry out daily inspections across both shifts and scheduled audits, closing out hazards promptly.

  • Act as the competent person and main contact for the HSA, and report on safety KPIs.

2. Incident Management & Investigation

  • Lead the response to incidents and near misses, carrying out root cause investigations and producing well-evidenced reports.

  • Ensure corrective actions are tracked to closure and shared as learning, and support insurance and claims matters.

3. Operational Safety

  • Manage lifting operations, workplace transport and forklift safety, chemical safety, and fire safety.

  • Manage contractor safety, including permits to work and RAMS review, and support site installation teams.

4. Facilities Management

  • Own the building, yard, welfare facilities, and site services, keeping them safe and well maintained.

  • Oversee maintenance, statutory inspections and certification, service contractors, and facilities budgets.

  • Manage security and access control, and plan layout and storage changes as production grows.

5. Environmental Management

  • Ensure environmental and waste management compliance, and report environmental performance to senior leadership.

6. Training, Culture & Leadership

  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and training for employees, agency staff, and contractors, and track certifications.

  • Support supervisors to take ownership of safety, report to senior leadership, and prepare for HSA inspections and client audits.

Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role within construction, manufacturing, engineering, or a similarly structured production environment, including at least 2 years at manager or lead level.

  • Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, the General Application Regulations 2007, and the Construction Regulations 2013.

  • A proven track record of leading incident investigations and producing well-evidenced, defensible investigation reports.

  • Experience managing lifting operations, forklifts, and workplace transport.

  • Experience managing facilities, maintenance, statutory inspections, and contractors.

  • A practical, hands-on approach, with the confidence to challenge and influence at both shop floor and leadership level.

  • Strong report-writing, organisational, and IT skills.

  • Full clean driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in offsite construction, modular building, steel fabrication, or modern methods of construction (MMC).

  • Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 45001.

  • Experience working with multi-lingual teams and agency labour.

  • Current Safe Pass and relevant site safety qualifications.
