Health & Safety Coordinator

Job Description:

We are collaborating with a client in Gouverneur New York, who is currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Health & Safety Coordinator for their mining operations. Relocation assistance is provided.

Responsibilities:

• Focus on workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations

• Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs as needed

• Provide safety training & education

• Conduct risk assessments

• Inspect work environments underground and on the surface

• Investigate accidents

• Accompany MSHA on quarterly inspections or other site visits

• Evaluate and recommend control measures to minimize risk

• Stay informed of MSHA regulations along with other federal, state, and local H&S regulations

• Schedule annual required physicals and hearing tests

• Assist with weekly and monthly H&S reporting

• Maintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and other required records

• Work with all departments of the business to promote a positive safety culture

• Other reasonable duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and stay organized

• Ability to use computer for written communication, tracking, and submitting reports

• Experience in workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Skilled in written and verbal communication (in English)

• Mining industry experience preferred

• MSHA Trainer Certification preferred

• Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
