About the role

Reporting to the HSEC Manager, you will lead the site's health and safety function, ensuring effective risk management, legislative compliance and continuous improvement of safety systems and practices. You will provide leadership and mentoring to the Health & Safety team, building capability, supporting professional development and fostering a culture of accountability, care and continuous learning.

Working closely with site leaders and operational teams, you will partner with the business to strengthen safety performance, support effective risk management and maintain a safe, healthy and high-performing workplace.

  • Roster: 8/6, 12 hours per day (Dayshift only)

  • Location: Federation Mine, Nymagee NSW

Travel options

  • DIDO if you live within an 800km radius of the Mine site which includes a travel allowance

  • FIFO from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop the Health & Safety team

  • Partner with leaders and contractors to strengthen safety outcomes

  • Foster a positive, inclusive and proactive safety culture

  • Provide trusted health and safety advice across the operation

  • Support risk management and critical control effectiveness

  • Lead incident investigations and learning reviews

  • Champion workforce wellbeing and engagement initiatives

  • Drive continuous improvement across health and safety systems

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant health and safety qualifications or studies

  • Experience leading health & safety team within a mining environment

  • Experience partnering with operational leaders and contracting workforces

  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and safety systems

  • Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions

  • ICAM Lead Investigator and/or Lead Auditor qualifications

  • Emergency response or emergency management experience

  • Training, assessment or workforce development qualifications

  • Ability to coach, mentor and influence people at all levels

  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
