This position serves as a Civilian Health Technician (Surgical) at Womack Army Medical Center, Directorate of Surgery, Department of Surgery. Womack, we are a fully accredited 110-bed, evidenced-based regional medical center and GME facility serving Fort Bragg, the home of Airborne and Special Operations and the largest U.S. Army installation in the world. We manage several outstanding Primary Care practice sites located in Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, Hope Mills, and Linden Oaks. Womack is located in Fayetteville, Fort Bragg which is 2 hours from the beach and 5 hours from the Appalachian Mountains with easy access to I-95 and all points north and south. This central North Carolina location enjoys seasonably palatable weather year-round. Responsibilities Duties Transport patients from hospital units to the operating room. Screen patients for completeness of preoperative documentation. Position the patient for the specific surgical procedure. Assembling surgical instruments and equipment based on the procedure and the surgeon’s preference. Monitor safe handling and disposal of sharp and biohazardous materials. Provide surgical instruments such as sponges, sutures, and solutions as requested by surgical staff. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with retrieving and positioning patients for surgical procedures; assembling sterile instruments and equipment based on the surgical procedure; providing supplies during procedures as requested by surgical team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
