As Unit Manager, you will lead the department’s day to day running, support and develop staff, manage rosters and resources, and take forward improvements. You will remain connected to clinical practice while gaining broader experience in workforce planning, recruitment, performance and financial management.

We welcome applications from experienced nurses who can demonstrate leadership, sound clinical judgement and a commitment to developing others.

The Heart Centre Unit Manager provides clinical leadership and day-to-day operational management of the Heart Centre, including the catheter laboratory team. Accountable to the LTUCC Matron, the post holder is responsible for the quality and safety of care, staff management, departmental performance and effective use of the delegated budget and resources.

The post holder will provide visible, compassionate leadership, setting clear standards and supporting staff to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care. They will lead recruitment, staff development, rostering and workforce planning, ensuring the department has the skills and staffing required to deliver its services safely.

Working closely with cardiology, cardiac physiology, radiography and operational colleagues, the Unit Manager will coordinate departmental activity, support timely access to investigations and procedures, and address risks to service delivery. They will maintain their own specialist clinical skills and provide advice, supervision and support within their professional competence.

The post holder will lead improvements informed by patient experience, clinical outcomes, staff feedback and workforce and financial information. They will be accountable for decisions within their delegated authority, escalate concerns promptly and ensure agreed actions are completed and reviewed.
