Occupational Health and Safety Business Partner
The Government of Jersey delivers services that touch every part of island life, making the health, safety and wellbeing of its workforce fundamental to effective public service delivery.
This is a senior business partnering role responsible for supporting departments to create safe, healthy and resilient workplaces through the development of appropriate occupational health and safety technical capability, evidence-based interventions and proactive risk management.
Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, the postholder will provide business partnering and specialist expertise to develop and deliver Government wide approaches to health, safety, wellbeing and occupational health, supporting the creation of safe, healthy and high-performing workplaces. A key aspect of the role will be developing and delivering data and appropriate reporting to demonstrate and validate assurance pathways.
Working closely with Chair of the Health & Safety Board, Departmental Leadership Teams and key stakeholders, you will influence decision making, support reporting of health and safety standards achieved, strengthen health and safety governance and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and good practice standards.
The role operates with a 3 to 5-year horizon, helping departments anticipate emerging workforce risks, improve occupational health and safety resilience and deliver sustainable improvements in employee health, wellbeing and health occupational health and safety standards.
Working across a diverse range of services, you'll oversee assurance arrangements, support organisational responses to emerging risks, and build capability through professional guidance, coaching and stakeholder engagement. Success in the role will depend on your ability to foster collaborative relationships that enable leaders to embed good practice and create safe, healthy and sustainable workplaces.
You'll bring significant specialist experience of leadership in health, safety and wellbeing functions within large and complex organisations, together with a degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline and Chartered Fellow IOSH status, or an equivalent professional accreditation. Equally important will be your ability to influence at a senior level, navigate complexity and translate strategic objectives into practical and measurable outcomes.
Whilst managing a small team of direct reports, this remains a hands-on leadership role, requiring you to lead and deliver your own strategic and operational workstreams while building capability and driving continuous improvement across the organisation.
In return, you'll join an organisation committed to investing in its people and creating an inclusive environment where different perspectives are valued. This is an opportunity to shape the future direction of occupational health, safety and wellbeing across Government, helping to support a workforce that delivers essential services to Islanders every day while leaving a lasting organisational impact.
If you're motivated by the opportunity to shape strategy, drive meaningful change and leave a lasting impact on workforce health, safety and wellbeing, we'd welcome your application.
