IDB Invest - Consultant - Supply Chain Finance Pipeline and Product Development
City: Washington DC
Company: IDB Invest
Posting End Date: 11/11/2026 11:59 PM EST

We improve lives

IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.

IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.

In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, to approximately $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.

About this position

IDB Invest is seeking a dynamic, client-oriented, Korean-speaking Consultant to support the Trade, Supply Chain and Commodity Finance Division (TSF) within the Financial Solutions, Mobilization and Asset Sharing Department (FSM). This consulting assignment will support the expansion of supply chain finance business pipelines, the origination and structuring of transactions, and the development and implementation of scalable financial products for clients in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with particular emphasis on opportunities involving Korean companies, financial institutions, investors and strategic partners.

FSM provides specialized financial solutions, mobilizes third-party capital and supports the institution’s originate-to-share model. Within FSM, TSF develops and delivers trade, supply chain and commodity finance solutions across financial institutions and corporate clients.

You will work in TSF and collaborate closely with FSM colleagues, regional and industry teams, development effectiveness, risk, legal, environmental and social, integrity, treasury, operations and mobilization teams. You will contribute across the transaction cycle—from market mapping and client engagement through preliminary screening, structuring, approval, implementation and monitoring—with a primary focus on building a high-quality supply chain finance pipeline and advancing product development.

The role will help connect Korean corporates, banks, fintechs, investors and public-sector ecosystem partners with opportunities in LAC. The Consultant will support financing and risk-mitigation solutions across the supply chain, including accounts payable finance, accounts receivable finance, working-capital facilities, import and pre-export finance, guarantees, unfunded risk participations and mobilization structures, subject to applicable IDB Invest policies and approvals

What you’ll do

  • Build and actively manage a pipeline of supply chain finance opportunities involving corporate anchors, suppliers, buyers, financial institutions and technology platforms across LAC.
  • Map Korean companies and financial institutions with existing or planned activities in LAC; identify cross-border trade, supplier-finance, buyer-finance and working-capital opportunities.
  • Support client origination, relationship development and preparation of pitches, proposals, concept notes, indicative term sheets and internal screening materials in English and Korean.
  • Conduct industry, market, company, financial and credit analysis; assess transaction economics, working-capital cycles, supply-chain flows, risks, additionality and expected development impact.
  • Support the structure and execution of supply chain finance transactions, including due diligence, financial modeling, pricing analysis, approval documentation, negotiation support, closing and implementation.
  • Coordinate transaction workstreams with multidisciplinary teams and help ensure that deliverables are complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule.
  • Contribute to the design, standardization and rollout of new or enhanced TSF products, processes, templates and digital solutions, with emphasis on scalable supply chain finance programs.
  • Research market practices, emerging technologies, fintech partnerships and peer approaches; translate findings into practical product development recommendations.
  • Prepare and maintain pipeline dashboards, product analytics, client intelligence, and management reporting using IDB Invest systems and data tools.
  • Develop professional relationships with Korean corporates, commercial and policy banks, export credit and trade-promotion institutions, fintechs and other ecosystem partners to strengthen Korea–LAC business connectivity.
  • Support knowledge-sharing, business-development missions, workshops and external engagement activities that promote sustainable trade and supply chain finance between Korea and LAC.
  • Contribute to portfolio monitoring, implementation follow-up and lessons learned to strengthen client retention and inform future product development

What you'll need

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, International Business, Engineering or another relevant field. CFA, FRM or other finance-related credentials are a plus.

• Experience: At least two years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, corporate banking, trade finance, supply chain finance, structured finance, transaction advisory, corporate treasury, fintech, a development finance institution or a related field. Demonstrated experience in origination, financial and credit analysis, transaction structuring, product development or execution is required. Exposure to Korean corporates or financial institutions and to cross-border business in emerging markets is highly desirable.

• Languages: Full professional proficiency in Korean and English is required. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable; knowledge of Portuguese or French is an advantage.

• Citizenship: No requirements.

• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
