About Rivas & Associates
At Rivas & Associates, we believe every immigrant deserves strong legal representation, respect, and someone willing to fight for their future.
We are a growing immigration law firm with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal professionals who are passionate about making a difference. Our mission is to empower one million people on their immigration journey while creating meaningful growth for our team and our community.
We are looking for an Immigration Court Attorney based in Dallas, Texas, who enjoys advocacy, values teamwork, and wants to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact in the lives of immigrants and their families.
About the Position
This position will focus primarily on representing clients in removal proceedings before immigration courts in the Dallas area. The attorney will also occasionally attend USCIS interviews and handle other immigration-related appearances as needed.
You will not be working alone. Our firm has an established team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal support professionals who work together to prepare cases, develop legal strategies, and provide excellent representation to our clients.
We are looking for an attorney who is comfortable communicating with clients, enjoys being in court, and is willing to take initiative while working as part of a larger team.
Prior removal defense experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right attorney who demonstrates strong legal skills, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for immigration advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients at Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, bond hearings, and other immigration court proceedings.
- Advocate for clients seeking relief from removal.
- Attend USCIS interviews and other immigration appointments as needed.
- Meet and communicate directly with clients regarding their cases, legal options, and upcoming hearings.
- Work closely with our legal team to review case strategies, evidence, applications, and hearing preparation.
- Prepare legal arguments and assist with case development.
- Maintain accurate case notes, communicate case developments, and meet all applicable deadlines.
- Stay informed about developments in immigration law and court procedures.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
- Must be located in the Dallas–Fort Worth area or willing to relocate.
- Immigration law experience preferred, particularly in removal defense.
- Courtroom or litigation experience is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication, analytical, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with clients.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and develop courtroom advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently while remaining an active and collaborative member of the legal team.
- Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?
We are looking for an attorney who takes pride in their work, follows through on commitments, and understands that our clients are depending on us during some of the most important moments of their lives.
The ideal candidate is dependable, takes initiative, treats clients and colleagues with respect, and is motivated to become an excellent immigration advocate.
You do not need to know everything on your first day. What matters is your willingness to learn, your commitment to doing excellent work, and your ability to contribute to a team that is passionate about helping immigrants.
