See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality: Position Overview : As part of the talented Mercury Marine – Aluminum Machining team, you will support manufacturing engineering which owns machining processes producing primary aluminum engine and drive components for 75 HP and above, inboard or outboard engines. You’ll develop, establish, update and maintain manufacturing standards to meet Mercury’s Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Productivity goals. This is a unique opportunity allowing you to identify, define, and implement systematic improvement initiatives for both current and new product lines utilizing manufacturing lean principles and tools as well as supporting and advancing internal engineering workflows and systems. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate and interact with multiple levels of cross-functional personnel to achieve the desired improvements. Once proficient in this role, you'll have the opportunity to mentor a production worker, helping them develop valuable career skills and they will assist you in obtaining time study videos, conducting SWI audits, maintaining documentation and databases with the machining engineering department. Essential Functions : • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, MBOM structure, process flows and other information to understand the manufacturing methods and activities. • Establish and maintain product cost standards, databases and manufacturing routings through routine process performance audits across multiple shifts of production. • Analyze and provide component quoting in conjunction with manufacturing engineering inputs. • Become the subject matter expert on current machining engineering systems/workflows which support manufacturing engineering, operations and broader manufacturing groups. Identify opportunities within current systems and potential future systems to streamline machining engineering functions. • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine production system capacities, capabilities, labor requirements and mix-model production flow. • Assist new product development projects by supporting creation (or update) of efficient production systems that integrate workers, machines, materials and information to manufacture products. • Lead cross functional teams to review manufacturing operations for safety, standardization and compliance and execute improvement activities. • Develop, prepare and present costing quotes to support cost benefit analysis for continuous improvement activities, process changes and NPIs. • Plan, establish and maintain sequence of operations to manufacture parts and promote efficient utilization of production manpower. • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to company rules and policies. • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering (or equivalent Engineering degree) is required • Minimum 3 – 5 years relevant work experience • Extensive working knowledge and understanding of diverse manufacturing operations • Proficient in lean manufacturing tools and strategies, and process improvement methodologies • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications • Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent 2D drafting software is desired • Basic understanding of cost accounting concepts, techniques, and principles • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and documents Preferred Qualifications: Formal Lean Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification Solid comprehension and listening skills Knowledge of TimerPro Software to conduct labor utilization analysis Knowledge of CNC machining, Mazak Equipment, Zoller Equipment, Tool management systems Excellent analytical and data analysis skills, careful attention to detail and accuracy Self-motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, and capable of working independently within deadlines Ability to maintain a high level of focus & flexibility The anticipated pay range for this position is $62,800 - $90,500 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
