Across our business, our people turn expertise, innovation, and strong execution into products and experiences customers can depend on. Whatever your function, your contribution helps us serve customers and advance that purpose.

The Impact You Will Make

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and sustaining the embedded systems that power our next generation of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Fire Solutions products. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will develop reliable, high-performance firmware that enables critical product functionality, supports regulatory and customer requirements, and helps ensure our life-saving technologies perform when they are needed most.

  • Design, develop, and sustain embedded software solutions supporting microcontroller-based products, ensuring performance, reliability, safety, and long-term product maintainability.
  • Develop and integrate firmware across complex electromechanical systems, including sensors, displays, batteries, communication interfaces, power management systems, and wireless technologies.
  • Drive technical problem solving and product performance improvements through system-level debugging, testing, validation, and root cause analysis across hardware and software environments.
  • Partner across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and product development teams to deliver new capabilities, support product lifecycle activities, and ensure successful product execution from concept through sustaining engineering.
  • Apply engineering rigor and modern development practices through architecture design, automated testing, technical documentation, risk assessment, and advanced AI-enabled tools that enhance development efficiency and product quality.
  • Contribute technical leadership within the organization by helping estimate effort, identify risks, influence technical decisions, and support the growth and success of the broader engineering team.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of embedded software development experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • Experience developing software for embedded or real-time systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional engineering environment.

Preferred

  • Experience developing firmware for STM32 microcontroller platforms.
  • Experience with RTOS-based application development, including task scheduling, synchronization, and inter-task communication.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing communication technologies such as BLE, LoRa, UWB, or other wireless protocols.
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and embedded system integration.
  • Experience working within regulated, safety-critical, or highly reliable product development environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and contribute to complex engineering projects.

Working Conditions & Essential Job Requirements

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, and occasionally travel or move throughout office, engineering, manufacturing, or customer-site environments.
