The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing sitewide inventory to support sales and distribution requirements across the Pfizer Andover supply chain. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Business Planning, the role leads the development and execution of long-term inventory strategies, material-flow, and inventory-reporting processes.

Applying comprehensive knowledge of inventory planning and control, the incumbent manages the Drug Substance material-flow / batch-tracker process, and delivers the reporting and analysis that support inventory targets, distressed-inventory (DI) governance, and the annual inventory budget submission. Serving as a catalyst for continuous improvement, this role initiates and leads moderately complex inventory and process improvement projects.

The role partners closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, Warehousing & Distribution, and Site Finance teams to drive alignment and performance.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

  • Develop and execute inventory strategies in partnership with supply chain stakeholders to achieve site inventory optimization objectives and service level targets.

  • Analyze inventory performance, maintain system integrity, and coordinate with production planning and warehouse teams to ensure efficient routing, scheduling, storage, and material flow.

  • Lead forecasting activities, including monthly demand planning, annual operational planning, and long-range volume forecasting, to support business continuity and strategic growth.

  • Identify risks and opportunities within inventory performance; facilitate alignment and decision-making among cross-functional stakeholders for key supply planning and inventory initiatives.

  • Apply supply chain expertise to lead and deliver continuous improvement projects using IMEx methodologies, driving measurable gains in inventory accuracy, efficiency, and cost performance.

  • Develop and enhance tools, systems, and reporting capabilities to strengthen inventory visibility, enable data-driven decision-making, and improve forecast accuracy.

  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to demand planning, supply planning, and inventory management; implement corrective actions as needed to meet performance targets.

  • Support inventory control processes, including audits and documentation, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal quality standards.

  • Lead the Distressed Inventory (DI) process, ensuring timely identification, evaluation, and disposition of at-risk materials. Facilitate cross-functional DI meetings to drive resolution of distressed inventory and financial reserves.

  • Coordinates Drug Substance material flow and owns the site batch-tracker process, ensuring use of digital tools, adherence to IMEx principles, and appropriate batch prioritization; partners with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Planning to enable on-time batch release and customer delivery.

  • Partners with Warehousing & Distribution on the weekly shipping plan and long-range warehouse capacity. Aligns priorities with Planners, adheres to production shipping plans, and maintains a long-range inventory plan to support warehouse capacity.

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED (Minimum Requirements)

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0+ years of experience; OR an associate's degree with 8 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Working knowledge of inventory planning/control, material flow, and supply chain business processes in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to guide or lead moderately complex projects and to resolve moderately complex problems that impact the department.

  • Proficiency with SAP (or comparable ERP) and strong Excel/data-analysis skills.

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to work in a fast, ever-changing environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, customer-service, and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to drive decision-making.

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE (Preferred Requirements)

  • Experience in a biologics, vaccines, or sterile-injectable manufacturing environment, with working knowledge of GMP and regulatory expectations (FDA, EMA, and other health authorities).

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification; Lean Six Sigma(Yellow/Green Belt) or IMEx/Operational Excellence experience.

  • Experience with distressed-inventory / obsolescence management, inventory budgeting, or working-capital reporting.

  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with leaders and support staff across various areas.

  • Experience in a regulated environment and familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity. Demonstrated curiosity for exploring how these tools can improve outcomes and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Standard office and manufacturing-floor environment. Periodic site-floor presence requires adherence to site PPE and gowning requirements. Must be able to perform sustained focused analytical work, perform data analysis, and coordinate cross-functional meetings.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Primarily standard on-site schedule. Occasional off-hours availability may be required to support shipping deadlines, material-flow priorities, and month-end inventory activities. Minimal travel (typically <5%).

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,200.00 to $165,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
