Junior AI/ML Engineer (Go/Python)

Ayan Capital is building an Islamic challenger bank in the UK. We built digital car finance, then instalment consumer finance, and we’re building daily banking next. The team behind it previously built Alif, a fintech with 10 million customers across three countries. Every month, more than 20,000 people start an application with us, and most of what handles that volume is software we wrote ourselves.

We’re looking for a junior engineer who wants to become an AI/ML engineer, and is willing to earn it by building real things first.

What you’ll do

• Build APIs and integrations in Go, and backend services on top of our databases.
• Work on the automation that runs our operations: document processing, customer and dealer workflows, reporting.
• Move into AI/ML work as you prove yourself: model integration, evaluation, and the data pipelines underneath them.
• Work directly with our senior engineers, who will review your code and show you how they think.

Who we’re looking for

• Working knowledge of Go and Python. You’ve built something in at least one of them, even if it was small.
• You understand REST, HTTP, SQL and Git.
• You can communicate clearly in English, in writing and on calls.
• You learn fast and you’d rather be given a hard problem than a clear instruction.

We care more about learning speed, ownership and hunger than years of experience. If you’ve taught yourself something difficult, or built something nobody asked you to build, tell us about it.
