Salary Range: $32.00 To $44.00 Hourly

Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and an experienced Junior Environmental Specialist-Remediation & Reclamation to join our team of professionals. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early- to mid-career professional to gain hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, site assessments, remediation, reclamation, compliance monitoring, and technical reporting across a range of energy, mining, infrastructure, and natural resource projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior environmental scientists, biologists, agrologists, engineers, and project managers to support field programs, environmental monitoring, regulatory compliance, and reclamation activities across Northeastern British Columbia and other project areas as required. This position is based out of our Fort St. John office.
Job Responsibilities:
The immediate responsibilities of a Junior Environmental Specialist-Remediation & Reclamation will include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting environmental compliance monitoring and site inspections during construction, operational, remediation, and reclamation activities.
- Supporting Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I/II ESA), Preliminary Site Investigations (Stage 1/2 PSI), and Detailed Site Investigations (DSI).
- Conducting soil, groundwater, surface water, and mine contact water sampling programs.
- Assisting with flow monitoring and hydrometric assessment programs.
- Supporting contaminated site investigations, remediation planning, and environmental monitoring programs.
- Conducting reclamation monitoring, vegetation assessments, and environmental restoration activities.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of Environmental Protection Plans (EPPs).
- Preparing Environmental Compliance Reports (ECRs), monitoring reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Maintaining accurate field notes, environmental records, and data management systems.
- Collaboratiing with project managers, field crews, contractors, Indigenous communities, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Adhering to company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures while performing field operations and activities.
- Supporting technical reporting activities such as preparation, data collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation.
- Assisting with other environmental department duties as required.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Agrology, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional designation (P.Ag., RPBio, etc.) or immediately qualified for the same is required.
- 3-9 years of relevant environmental consulting, remediation, reclamation, or environmental monitoring experience.
- Experience conducting environmental fieldwork is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of BC Energy Regulator (BCER) requirements and environmental regulations is considered an asset.
- Experience with environmental sampling techniques and monitoring programs.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance monitoring and reporting.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to travel and work effectively in adverse weather conditions and navigate remote or challenging terrain.
- Ability to work flexible schedules that may vary based on project demands and operational needs is required.
- Ability to work effectively in camp settings and split-shift arrangements as required.
- Job is based in the Peace Region and only applicants currently living in or willing to immediately relocate will be considered.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Compensation:
- The pay range for this position is $32- $44 per hour; pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
