Laboratory Manager Acute Care Hospital

Job Overview A respected healthcare system in Southern California is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across its accredited acute-care hospitals. This role is ideal for an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with leadership experience who is ready to step into a management-level position. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for supervising laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and supporting operational goals while fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and safety. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the laboratory and supervise Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and Lab Assistants. Ensure adherence to protocols and compliance with TJC, CLIA, DHS, and other regulatory standards. Manage workload distribution, staffing, and scheduling for optimal workflow. Support laboratory testing functions across disciplines such as immunology, microbiology, genetics, and biochemistry. Monitor performance, provide coaching, and foster team development. Partner with leadership to achieve operational and financial objectives. Qualifications Required: Bachelors degree in a related field. Active California CLS license . Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a CLS. At least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a laboratory setting. Preferred: Masters degree in a related field.
