Job Description Summary
In this role, you will lead labour compliance service delivery for GE Vernova’s offices across India, partnering with internal stakeholders and external vendors. The incumbent will collaborate closely with HR, Legal, Payroll, and compliance partners to ensure full adherence to applicable labour laws, including the newly introduced central labour codes. The role requires a strong understanding of statutory obligations related to wages, social security, industrial relations, and occupational safety for office-based employees.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Lead internal GE Vernova teams and external vendors in executing labour compliance activities, including maintenance of registers, filing returns, and displaying statutory notices.
- Periodically monitor and track the status of applicable labour compliances.
- Support compliance monitoring under the upcoming labour codes applicable to GE Vernova India offices.
- Drive the Monthly Operating metrics review of the vendors in partnership with vendor management team.
- Escalate issue, risks, gaps, and deviations to senior leadership with actionable recommendations.
Audits and Inspections
- Serve as the primary point of contact for labour audits and inspections at GE Vernova office locations.
- Prepare responses to labour authorities and support inspection or inquiry processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to support assessments or notices issued by labour authorities.
- Report adverse observations from labour inspectors and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
Regulatory Changes in Labour Laws / Labour Codes
- Stay informed about state-level labour laws applicable to office environments.
- Liaise with external consultants and legal advisors for interpretation and implementation of labour codes.
- Communicate legislative updates to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Distinguish compliance requirements for office employees versus contract workers operating within GE Vernova premises.
Streamlining Processes and Continuous Improvement
- Drive process improvements in governance, risk management, and labor compliance monitoring.
- Standardize process, documentation and reporting formats to ensure consistency and audit-readiness.
- Conduct periodic reviews of existing processes to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
Adhoc Responsibilities
- Partner with the broader compliance function and HR team to support various compliance initiatives where needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in labour law compliance for factories or office setups in India.
- Basic understanding of Indian labour laws and recent labour codes.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication skills in English.
