We are seeking an experienced, motivated and compassionate midwifery leader to join our Labour Ward leadership team at Scarborough Hospital as a Labour Ward Manager in a job share arrangement.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced midwife passionate about delivering safe, high-quality intrapartum care and supporting staff to provide outstanding experiences for women, birthing people and their families. Working collaboratively with the existing Labour Ward Manager, you will provide visible leadership and support the effective day-to-day operational management of the Labour Ward and wider maternity service.
You will contribute to workforce development, promote a culture of safety, learning and continuous improvement, and ensure women and families receive personalised, compassionate and evidence-based care. As part of our maternity leadership team, you will help drive innovation, staff wellbeing and service improvement.
Working in partnership with the existing Labour Ward Manager, you will provide leadership, operational management and strategic oversight of the Labour Ward service. You will support the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and compassionate intrapartum care, ensuring the safe management of staffing, patient flow, acuity, capacity and resources.
The postholder will promote a positive safety culture through governance, risk management, incident review and quality improvement activity, while supporting the recruitment, retention, development and wellbeing of staff. Working collaboratively with obstetric, anaesthetic, neonatal and governance colleagues, you will contribute to service improvement initiatives, implement local and national maternity priorities, and use quality indicators, patient feedback and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
As a visible and approachable leader, you will role model Trust values and professional standards, supporting our culture and improvement plans by listening to women, birthing people and families, developing our workforce, promoting continuous learning, and helping the service meet national standards while shaping the future of maternity care.
This role is ideal for an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 midwife with strong leadership skills, a passion for intrapartum care and a commitment to developing teams and improving services within a supportive job share arrangement.
