Description Classification: Exempt Reports To: President/Owner Position Summary Bzak Landscaping is seeking a motivated, self-directed Landscape Architect to lead residential landscape design projects from concept through completion. This position works closely with the Owner, clients, production manager, foremen, and field crews to create high-quality, functional, and visually appealing outdoor spaces while ensuring projects are designed with constructability, budget, and client expectations in mind. The Landscape Architect serves as a critical link between design and operations, transforming concepts into detailed plans and collaborating with project teams to support successful project execution. This role requires a professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain momentum without direct supervision. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of balancing design excellence with practical project considerations. Design & Client Relations Represent Bzak Landscaping professionally in all interactions with clients, prospects, vendors, and business partners. Meet with clients to identify project goals, preferences, budgets, and expectations. Develop conceptual landscape designs, sketches, and presentations that align with client objectives and company standards. Translate conceptual designs into detailed CAD plans, layout drawings, planting plans, construction details, and project documents. Assist in preparing project proposals, presentations, and supporting design documentation. Clearly communicate design intent, plans, specifications, and project scope to clients and project stakeholders. Review and proofread all design deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency. Project Planning & Coordination Work closely with the Owner to prioritize projects, establish timelines, and meet design and proposal deadlines. Collaborate with production manager, foremen, project managers, and field crews to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with project goals. Interpret plans, specifications, and contract requirements for clients, administrative staff, and field personnel. Prepare and assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress and provide support throughout construction to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Participate in project and strategy meetings as necessary. Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to facilitate project success. Estimating & Technical Support Prepare material takeoffs, plant counts, and quantity calculations for estimating purposes. Assist with estimating, pricing, budgeting, and proposal preparation. Research products, materials, and construction methods to support design innovation and project efficiency. Gather technical information, specifications, and product data sheets for project planning and presentations. Organize and maintain project files, revisions, drawings, photographs, and related documentation. Field Collaboration Conduct site visits to gather measurements, assess site conditions, and support project development. Coordinate with production manager, foremen and field teams to address design questions and construction challenges. Work collaboratively with operations personnel to support successful project implementation. Ensure designs comply with applicable safety requirements and construction standards. Support project documentation through site observations, photographs, and progress tracking. General Responsibilities Anticipate workload demands and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Maintain a high level of organization while working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Accept and implement constructive feedback from leadership, clients, and team members. Perform additional duties as assigned to support company objectives and operational success. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture Strong CAD proficiency and ability to produce professional landscape plans and construction documents. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Valid driver's license meeting company insurance requirements. Preferred Qualifications Three to five years of experience in landscape architecture, landscape design-build, or a related industry. Experience working in residential landscape design and construction. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Dynascape, Vectorworks, RealTime Landscaping Architect, or similar design software. Ohio Landscape Architect license preferred. Knowledge of Ohio plant materials, landscape construction practices, grading, and site development. Experience with estimating, budgeting, and material takeoffs. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Professional, positive, and solutions-focused. Supervisory Responsibility The Landscape Foreman will supervise 1-8 Landscape Technicians. She/he is responsible for the below. Delegating tasks. Ensuring all company safety guidelines and regulations are followed. Reporting progress to president. Communicating job site needs. Working Environment Primarily performed in a professional office environment. Frequent computer and desk work. Periodic visits to client properties and active job sites. Regular interaction with clients, vendors, employees, and the public. Full-time position, generally Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as business needs require. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; Position Type/Expected Hours of Work · This is a full-time position. Schedule fluctuates Monday through Saturday. Occasional overtime may be required. Travel · Travel for this position is rare. The maximum amount of expected travel is 10% annually.
