Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world.
Wood is seeking expressions of interest for a Lead Instrument Engineer to join our Malaysia team in a pivotal role, as we partner with a major player in the Oil & Gas industry on the FEED phase of one of the Middle East's most significant offshore green & brownfield redevelopment and asset life extension projects. This opportunity is available to Malaysia Citizens, Permanent Residents, and suitably qualified professionals eligible for Employment Pass sponsorship, on a 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing December 2026.
Designing the future. Transforming the World.
Wood has a deep history of pioneering technical expertise globally for more than 160 years, from the North Sea to the offshore fields of the Malay Basin, Sabah and Sarawak, and the world-class energy hubs of Kerteh and Pengerang, and is now embarking on an exciting new chapter. Building on decades of engineering excellence from Malaysia, Wood invites you to help shape the future of the energy industry across Asia Pacific and beyond.
Join us in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, one of Southeast Asia's leading business and energy centres, where global connectivity, cultural diversity and engineering excellence come together. Supporting industry-leading clients across the oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, chemicals and energy sectors, you will contribute to some of the world's most significant projects while enjoying the benefits of a modern, vibrant, and highly liveable city. From its iconic skyline and thriving international business community to its affordability, accessibility, and strategic position at the centre of Asia Pacific, Kuala Lumpur offers the perfect blend of career opportunity and lifestyle.
At Wood Malaysia, you will thrive in a collegiate and collaborative team culture, partnering with like-minded professionals to solve complex challenges, deliver technical excellence and create new possibilities for our clients and communities.

Reporting to the Discipline Manager, you will step up and into a dedicated project team. You will thrive on the challenge of balancing technical, team, client, and project leadership by:
- Working across mature offshore oil and gas production facilities, with a focus on green & brownfield engineering, asset integrity, redevelopment, and life extension
- Setting clear technical direction for direct reports on any assigned projects and work scopes
- Representing the instrument discipline in design reviews, HAZOPs, HazIDs and LOPA
Your dual focus on relationships and delivery will be essential. Anticipating client needs beyond the immediate scope, you will drive technical excellence and assurance on the instrument engineering portion, while enabling the ongoing growth and development of your team. You will also work in close partnership with other disciplines and the client to enable robust technical decisions that ultimately add value to the client and asset portfolio.
