About the Role
Join a data infrastructure and analytics team as its senior engineering anchor. You will shape and scale a foundational platform that brings complex scientific data together for use by scientists and AI agents.
What You'll Do
Own the platform architecture, delivery, security posture, and scaling strategy.
Build and operate ingestion pipelines, APIs, microservices, and storage systems that normalize scientific data while preserving provenance.
Manage knowledge graphs and vector search to support hybrid symbolic and semantic retrieval.
Develop high-concurrency services in Go and Python, including controlled agent write boundaries and isolated execution environments.
Design security controls for service authentication, tenant isolation, secrets, encryption, and zero-trust access.
Own cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability, and establish SLOs and developer workflows.
Set engineering standards through architecture guidance, code reviews, and mentorship, while helping grow the platform team.
Partner with company leaders on engineering team design and recruiting.
What We're Looking For
Three to seven years of platform or infrastructure engineering experience, with a track record building production backend infrastructure, data platforms, or distributed systems.
Dedicated infrastructure engineering experience in addition to software engineering.
Strong proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and modern CI/CD systems.
Experience designing ETL or ELT pipelines for complex, unstructured enterprise or scientific data.
Experience with Go, Python, FastAPI, TypeDB/TypeQL, Qdrant, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus.
Experience with computational biology, biotech data systems, or compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $220,000 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship or transfer is not available.
Location
On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, California. Relocation assistance is available.
