If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our Talent Development team at APL.
We are seeking a Learning Coordinator to support the preparation, delivery, and closeout of various learning solutions aligned to the mission and strategy of APL. As a core member of APL's enterprise-level learning and development organization, you will establish relationships throughout the APL community and foster and enhance the credibility and value of the Talent Development team.
As a Learning Coordinator you will...
- Support the delivery of in-person and virtual learning programs that align with organizational goals; assist with communications, LMS administration, classroom setup, technical support, and customer service.
- Maintain consistent processes for managing training logistics, including registration, attendance, evaluations, vendor coordination, and budget tracking.
- Analyze participation and feedback data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Manage the intake and tracking of ad-hoc training and development requests.
- Lead small to large programs, coordinating communications among participants, facilitators, guest speakers, and vendors.
- Partner with colleagues to co-facilitate or deliver small learning sessions.
- Process and reconcile purchase requests, collaborating with procurement as needed.
- Coordinate meetings, events, and interviews (in person and virtual), handling logistics such as room setup, A/V, supplies, visitor coordination, and follow-up documentation.
- Organize and maintain shared files and training schedules; keep Talent Development resources and webpages current.
- Prepare and edit correspondence, reports, presentations, and training materials to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Create charts and graphics using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, ChatGPT, or other tools as needed.
- Take initiative to develop and implement new procedures, tools, and practices that enhance communication and team effectiveness.
- Build relationships and establish credibility with supervisors, HR partners, team members, staff across APL, and external vendors to ensure effective collaboration.
- Provide support for APL’s tuition assistance program to help staff pursue academic development opportunities.
- Flex to support other team members and programs during surges.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- A Bachelor's degree in business or an education-related field, or a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in office administration and event coordination.
- Have at least 2 years of experience in a human resources, learning, or educational environment, or similar, to include coordination and/or facilitation of training and/or events.
- Have 1+ years of experience managing training courses, records, or reporting in a learning management system (LMS) or similar software.
- Are proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Are eloquent, in both verbal and written form, with excellent organization, administrative, and digital literacy including proofreading proficiency.
- Exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to support teamwork and partnerships across multiple programs.
- Possess a willingness to challenge the status quo and advocate for process changes.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service at all levels and an ability to overcome obstacles to reach a resolution.
- Are a life-long learner who exhibits and appreciates curiosity, flexibility, empathy, and resilience through changing circumstances.
- Can think proactively, identify problems and solutions, and exhibit a high level of awareness and initiative.
- Hold US Citizenship or permanent resident status, as required to access APL’s facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Possess a solid understanding of APL systems, applications, processes and procedure.
- Are interested in and motivated to become a full-time instructor, facilitator, Organizational Development specialist, and/or Instructional Designer.
- Have experience working with engineers and scientists in a technical environment.
- Have experience with Workday, Saba, ChatGPT, Cognota, Articulate Rise or Storyline, Adobe InDesign or Publisher, Canva, Captivate, or other design tools.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
